About the job: Geo Engineering - Engineer Surface & Regional Monitoring
Provide geotechnical monitoring and analysis to ensure PTFI's sustainable and safe mining operations across all PTFI work areas, including Surface, Regional, and Underground Mines. Responsibilities include geotechnical risk mitigation for UG Mines Production areas, UG Mines facilities, surface infrastructure damage prevention, and regional mine supply road safety and effectiveness.
The key duties and responsibilities of this position are:
- Maintain and improve safety performance by enforcing company standards and adhering to PT Freeport Indonesia's safety and environmental programs.
- Analyze seismic monitoring data to assess ground response and seismic hazards, ensuring safety in underground facilities, access, and production areas.
- Update and maintain the geotechnical database system, ensuring data accessibility and preservation.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports for review by senior engineers and the superintendent.
- Develop skills and knowledge to incorporate new technologies and methods to enhance service quality, especially in block cave mining projects.
- Coordinate closely with the organization leader or direct supervisor to meet client requirements.
The key challenges in this position include:
- Managing a large coverage area with complex geotechnical hazards across UG Mines, regional highland-lowland areas, and surface geotechnical issues.
- Effective communication with various PTFI stakeholders and divisions.
- Influencing and convincing others to follow and implement TARP, in-depth analysis, and geotechnical recommendations.
- Excellently coordinating with supervisors and multicultural teams, demonstrating energy and a strong work ethic in dynamic geotechnical tasks.
The background, education, and work experience needed:
- S1 or S2 degree in Geology, Mining, Geotechnical, Civil, or Geophysics Engineering, with at least 2 years of geotechnical/mining experience.
- Knowledge of basic rock mechanics and geotechnical engineering principles from university coursework.
- Ability to communicate effectively and coordinate with supervisors and multicultural teams; energetic and highly ethical work attitude.
- Proficiency in English, both oral and written.
- Computer skills, including VULCAN, AUTOCAD, seismic and mining software such as Deswik, Voxler, GIS, etc.
Core competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Characters):
- Strong understanding of practical mining and geotechnical engineering software.
- Knowledge of rock mechanics and geotechnical engineering theories.
- Ability to communicate, lead, and train field personnel; energetic and willing to work in the field.
- Analytical thinking, excellent communication, project management, and presentation skills.
