Job summary

Agoda, a global travel technology company, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead backend teams focused on Generative AI. Based in Jakarta, you will shape platforms powering pricing, inventory, and bookings while upholding engineering quality and reliability.

You will own architecture, drive scalable systems, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product, security, and data teams to deliver AI-enabled solutions.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building and operating backend systems at scale.
• Proven system owner with operational responsibility.
• Strong background in distributed, fault-tolerant architectures.
• Experience leading teams with five or more direct reports.
• Proficient in Java, Scala, or C# and modern backend tech.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end backend and platform initiatives for Generative AI.
• Define scalable, secure backend systems for AI-enabled experiences.
• Drive technical strategy, architecture, and standards.
• Remain hands-on with code reviews and designs.
• Own service reliability, observability, and incident management.
• Promote DevOps culture and CI/CD practices.
• Partner with product, security, data, and infra teams.
• Hire and mentor engineers and future leaders.
• Set goals and KPIs with data-driven decisions.
