Job description

Bali Hospitality Stars is recruiting a General Manager for an operating luxury boutique resort in South Bali. The resort has an established market presence. Its trading name will be shared with selected candidates later because this is a discreet leadership search.

This is the senior business and property leadership position. It suits an experienced Bali hospitality leader who can improve guest experience, develop a strong management team, drive commercial performance and make the resort increasingly independent of day-to-day owner involvement.

The successful candidate will have room to make a visible impact, with direct access to ownership and the authority to improve how the resort operates.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
  • Consistently excellent guest experiences and top ratings on the resort's relevant review platforms.
  • Reliable service standards delivered through a capable Assistant General Manager and accountable operating team.
  • Strong management performance, clear expectations and prompt action when standards are not met.
  • Higher profitability through stronger revenue performance and disciplined cost control, without weakening service or the property.
  • An operation that runs reliably under the General Manager and Assistant General Manager, supported by concise owner reporting and early escalation of material risks and decisions.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
  • Overall resort performance and the management system that produces it.
  • Commercial strategy, pricing, occupancy, revenue management, direct bookings and online travel agency performance.
  • Budgets, forecasts, cost control, operating profit and practical business improvement.
  • Guest-experience standards, review performance and the permanent resolution of recurring or material failures.
  • Leadership, coaching and performance management of the Assistant General Manager and other management-level team members.
  • Workforce planning, recruitment, hiring, salaries, performance management, employee relations and HR compliance within approved budgets and authority.
  • Major vendor, contract, compliance and property-risk decisions, with ownership approval where required.
  • Capital projects and major renovations, including planning, budgeting, vendor and professional coordination, scope, cost, schedule, quality and disruption control.
  • Clear weekly and monthly reporting to ownership, including results, risks, recommendations and decisions required.
HOW THE LEADERSHIP ROLES ARE DIVIDED

The Assistant General Manager directly manages daily operations and operational staff, including front office, housekeeping, maintenance coordination, security, scheduling, routine vendors and routine guest-service execution.

The General Manager remains accountable for the result. The General Manager sets direction, leads and holds the Assistant General Manager accountable, removes obstacles, checks whether operating standards are producing the required results and intervenes personally in serious guest, people, commercial or property problems. This is an active leadership role, but it is not the routine departmental-supervisor position.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Your current or most recent hospitality role is in Bali.
  • Most of your relevant hospitality career has been in Bali.
  • You ideally have at least ten years of relevant hospitality experience and five years of genuine management responsibility. Exceptional candidates with less experience will still be considered when their results and operating breadth are strong.
  • You have led managers across several parts of a hotel or resort and can connect guest, people, financial, commercial and property decisions.
  • You can show specific examples of improving or consistently maintaining excellent guest experience, strengthening a team or improving commercial performance.
  • You are visible and close enough to the operation to understand what is happening, test management explanations and intervene when a serious issue requires senior leadership.
  • Your written and spoken English is excellent and suitable for international guests, owners, reports and commercial partners.
  • You have substantial luxury or upscale hospitality experience. Strong experience at an established independent property can be as relevant as experience with a recognized brand.
  • You have direct experience with Cloudbeds, or can demonstrate through a practical assessment that you can learn it very quickly.
  • You have a stable, progressive career and can explain the reasons for shorter appointments.
  • A university degree is strongly preferred. Hospitality or hotel-management education is a significant advantage. Exceptionally experienced operators without a degree will still be considered.

Current General Managers, Resort Managers and strong Assistant General Managers with broad property-wide responsibility are encouraged to apply. Exceptional Operations Managers, Rooms Division Managers, Front Office Managers and comparable senior department leaders may also be considered if they can demonstrate readiness to lead the whole property.

COMPENSATION

IDR 22 million to IDR 30 million gross base salary per month, depending on experience and demonstrated capability, plus applicable THR and BPJS. Compensation above this range requires specific owner approval.

SELECTION PROCESS

Candidates will complete a concise evidence-based screening and a short fictional management exercise before owner interviews. The exercise will not ask for unpaid work on the resort or confidential information from any current or former employer.

Applications are initially reviewed through an automated recruitment system. The hiring owners make interview and employment decisions. Current employers will not be contacted without the candidate's agreement.
