Job summary

Austin Engineering Ltd in Batam is seeking a General Machinist/Fitter to operate milling, bending, rolling and other workshop machinery. You will read and interpret technical drawings and work specifications to produce precise metal components.

You will perform measurements with vernier calipers and micrometers, ensure products meet quality standards, follow safety procedures, perform basic machine maintenance, maintain 5S in the workshop, and collaborate with supervisors to achieve production

Qualifications

• Minimum high school/technical vocational training in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Experience as a general machinist/fitter is preferred.
• Able to read technical drawings and understand fabrication processes.
• Proficient with measuring tools such as vernier calipers and micrometers.
• Knowledge of OHS fundamentals and safety procedures.
• Willing to work shifts and overtime if required.

Responsibilities

• Operate machining machines such as milling, bending, rolling, drilling, cutting, and other workshop equipment.
• Read, understand, and interpret technical drawings and work specifications.
• Perform measurement processes and inspect work results using appropriate measuring tools.
• Ensure that work results comply with the specified quality standards and tolerances.
• Carry out work in accordance with safety procedures and company standards.
• Perform basic maintenance on machines and work equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area and ensure the implementation of 5S in the workshop.
• Coordinate with supervisors and related teams to ensure production targets are achieved.
• Report any production issues, machine malfunctions, or discrepancies in work results to the supervisor.
