Job Description

Job Purpose

This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and complete accountability of all cash collections in the hotel, including foreign currencies and petty cash payments.

Primary Responsibilities

General Cashier

1. To manage all daily cash and cheque collection (from cashiers, bill collectors etc) with strict respect of hotel policies and to formally reconcile collected amounts with system generated reports on a daily basis. Collect and check daily remittances in the presence of a witness.
2. To perform daily foreign currency exchange with the officially appointed money changer and check and reconcile all foreign exchange submissions and calculations performed by Front Office and the POS.
3. To prepare and perform daily banking of all cash and cheques collected.
4. To prepare on a daily basis the General Cashier Report reconciling the daily collection of cash and the amount banked.
5. To maintain all in-house floats at an appropriate level required by operations and to randomly spot check the float count done by outlet cashiers.
6. To monitor the daily hotel foreign exchange rates displayed, update all rates as per hotel policy and make bank deposits as and when required.
7. To balance petty cash disbursements in the petty cash float and to ensure the timely reimbursement to employees within hotel policy.
8. To ensure the safeguard of all cheques and cash received in his/her custody.
9. To ensure sufficient change for all cashiers and reimburse Front Office cashiers for disbursement made.
10. To make petty cash payments on designated days.
11. To balance cash fund daily.
12. To conduct surprise float count on all cashier holding floats, including non-operation ‘cashiers’ like Talent & Culture and Security.
13. Maintain over and short records for each cashier and report evidence of review to Financial Controller.
14. Update all cashiers float record on a monthly basis.
15. Keep track of casual labour, valet dockets, official receipt book and movement records.

Other Responsibilities

1. Be aware of the hotel fire & life safety/emergency procedures.
2. Attend all briefings, meetings and trainings as assigned by management.
3. Maintain high standard of Ethics, Personal Appearance and Hygiene at all times.
4. Participate in hotel initiatives on Environment and Community development.
5. Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the Management.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience

1. Diploma in Accounting / Finance.
2. Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar capacity.
3. Good reading, writing and oral proficiency in English language.
4. Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and relevant accounting systems.
5. Service-oriented with an eye for details.
6. Ability to work effectively and contribute in a team.
7. Self-motivated and energetic.
8. Well-presented and professionally groomed at all times.
