To succeed in this role, typically you should have 15 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry and 10 years in relevant discipline experience. A competent understanding of regulations, codes, manufacturing standards, and industry standard practices is essential.

Who we are

Worley is a global professional services company of energy, chemicals and resources experts headquartered in Australia.

Right now, we’re bridging two worlds as we accelerate to more sustainable energy sources, while helping our customers provide the energy, chemicals and resources that society needs now.

We partner with our customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their assets. We solve complex problems by finding integrated data-centric solutions from consulting and engineering to installation and commissioning, to decommissioning and remediation. Join us and help drive innovation and sustainability in our projects.

What you’ll do

We are looking for a Lead Pipeline Designer to join our team. The role responsibilities include:

  1. Participate in project execution strategy and planning. Understand the project and discipline scope/cost/time requirements, assist the team to meet expectations, and coordinate with other disciplines to ensure project success.
  2. Implement innovative solutions, technology advances, and methods to effectively deal with out-of-sequence work. Support management of project change and progress for the discipline, working with the Project Management Team to take corrective actions regarding issues, staffing, scope changes, or other events affecting project completion and profitability.
  3. Plan discipline quality, monitor quality activities, drive and participate in squad checking, recommend improvements, and take necessary actions.
  4. Gather data from multiple sources and prepare 2D drawings, develop 3D models, assist with recommendations, and help create final documentation.
  5. Identify technical issues, define alternative solutions, evaluate pros and cons, and make recommendations to support official project documents such as technical queries and deviations.
  6. Create final documentation incorporating all relevant information and pursue internal approval. Review and authorize work done by direct reports as needed.
What you’ll have
  • Experience in related industries such as environmental, operations, maintenance, fabrication, or construction. Skilled in estimating project costs and writing proposals.
  • Ability to interface with other disciplines to obtain input for designs and clash-free drawings.
  • Assist in identifying technical problems and contributing solutions.
  • Conduct self-checks on drawings and undertake checks of others' work within your experience and competence level.
  • Knowledge of subsea pipeline routing considering regional and local geohazards (e.g., seabed profile, slope gradients, gullies, pockmarks, sand waves, faults).
  • Knowledge of pipeline crossing, span rectification, and post/pre-trenching design.
  • Knowledge of pipeline shore approach design, including HDD or open cut methods.
  • Ability to calculate soil removal and backfilling volumes.
  • Knowledge of pipeline field layouts, FPSO approach drawings, alignment sheets, and other related drawings.
  • Experience working in multinational teams within major project environments.
