Job summary

Konservasi Indonesia is seeking a Safeguard Coordinator to provide technical and coordination support for environmental and social safeguards across programmes and ecoregions. You will help implement safeguards systems, review risk assessments, and support grievance mechanisms, FPIC, and capacity building.

The role involves collecting and analyzing safeguards data, preparing reports, and maintaining records to enable risk management and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in environmental science or related field with relevant experience in ES safeguards and/or project design, monitoring, and compliance.
• Ability to work in cross-cultural situations with diverse stakeholders across public and private sectors.
• Knowledge of Indigenous Peoples, customary rights, and Indonesian government processes.
• Experience preparing safeguards documents, reports, and guidance.
• Strong analytical, coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel and work in challenging field conditions.
• Advanced proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• Computer literacy in Word, graphic software, Excel, and statistical tools.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and provide technical guidance on implementing environmental and social safeguards across programmes and projects.
• Review proposals and documentation to identify environmental and social risks and ensure safeguards are integrated.
• Develop and implement mitigation plans and FPIC/GRM guidance for projects.
• Monitor safeguards measures and support risk management and continuous improvement.
• Maintain safeguards records and databases to support monitoring and reporting.
• Contribute to training and capacity building on safeguards policies and procedures.
