Job summary

Fitch Group is seeking a Engineering & Quality – Master Data Engineer to join our Jakarta, Indonesia office. You will contribute to building a scalable AWS-based data platform and master data assets, with a focus on data governance and AI-enabled analytics.

The role emphasizes collaboration with the CDO team, data product leaders, and a strong emphasis on reliability, security, and cutting-edge technologies across data engineering and cloud services.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years hands-on data-centric software engineering experience, preferably in financial services, supporting data lake houses and data catalogs.
• Experience with master data management concepts, golden records, survivorship, and reference data.
• Strong AWS expertise and data platform knowledge across ingestion, transformation, and distribution.
• Experience applying AI/ML to boost engineering productivity with tools like GitHub Copilot or Amazon Q.
• Proficiency in Python for data engineering and API development (Pandas, PySpark, FastAPI).
• Design and build high-performance REST/GraphQL APIs and ETL/ELT pipelines with streaming capabilities.
• Knowledge of microservices, containerization, caching, and CI/CD with IaC tools.
• Security, reliability, observability, and cost governance in cloud-based data platforms.
• Ability to translate complex data requirements into scalable data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Contribute as a member of a high-performing data engineering team to implement scalable data solutions.
• Collaborate with CDO and data product leaders to implement an AWS-based data platform enabling AI and analytics.
• Define best practices for data ingestion, transformation, and distribution to accelerate insight generation.
• Promote adoption of AI technologies and integrate them into data workflows for AI-ready pipelines.
• Ensure operational excellence, reliability, and prevention of production incidents in data pipelines.
• Develop and maintain core master data assets ensuring trusted, reusable data across the enterprise.
• Support master data lifecycle activities including onboarding domains and evolving models.
• Act as Jakarta site lead and coordinate operations and technology resources locally.

• 3-5 years’ experience ‘hands-on’ as a member of a highly technical data-centric software engineers, preferably in financial services, in support of Data Lake houses (e.g. AWS, Databricks, Snowflake), data virtualizations solutions (e.g. Starburst), modern data catalogs & data quality capabilities (e.g. Collibra), and Master Data Management (e.g. Informatica)
• Experience working with master data concepts such as golden records, survivorship, reference data, and data stewardship in large-scale enterprise environments.
• Exposure to building or operating master data pipelines and services that integrate with analytics, operational systems, and APIs.
• Proven AWS expertise (S3, EKS, Lambda, Glue, EMR, Redshift, S3, RDS/Aurora, Valkey/Redis, Step Functions, MSK/Kafka, Event Bridge).
• Experience applying AI/ML to boost engineering productivity (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Amazon Q).
• Strong Python for data engineering (Pandas, Spark/PySpark) and API Development (FastAPI or similar).
• Design and build high-performance REST/GraphQL APIs with optimized query patterns, pagination, caching, and schema design to ensure low-latency, performant reads at scale.
• Build ETL/ELT pipelines for batch and streaming; Kafka/MSK with schemas (Avro/JSON) and delivery semantics.
• Optimize performance of object-based and relational datastores
• Design applications with microservices and containerization mindset with ‘decoupling’ architectural principles
• Caching with Valkey/Redis: TTL strategies, invalidation, key design.
• CI/CD and IaC with GitHub, Git/GitHub workflows, ArgoCD.
• Security and reliability: IAM, KMS, secrets, VPC networking, observability (OpenTelemetry), SLOs, cost governance.
• Ability to solve complex data-driven requirements and triage towards defects and production bugs
• Technology solutions and tools including data governance and catalog solutions (e.g. Collibra, Alation, data platform and lake(house) (i.e. ‘medallion’ architecture), and data mesh and virtualization tools (e.g. Starburst, Denodo) .
