Engineer - QA/QC (Smelter Operations_

This role is responsible for tracking and reporting of daily concentrate receipts (weights, sampling, assays, documents); daily anode production (weights, sampling, assays, documents); reinforcement of internal controls of anode physical and chemical quality; daily cathode production (weights, sampling, assays, labeling, reporting and documentation); reinforcement of internal controls of cathode chemical and physical quality. It also involves tracking of internal recycle streams (rejected concentrates, anodes, cathodes), tracking and reporting of reverts, dusts, intermediate stockpiles (granulated matte, FCF slag). An important element of the role is providing and maintaining supporting documentation, information and reports sufficient to comply with ISO 9001 / 14000 standards.

Some of your duties will include:

1. Conducting QA / QC of copper anodes and cathodes using appropriate tools and techniques to minimise deviations in quality specifications of anodes.
2. Conducting QA / QC of matte received from the flash furnaces and in-process copper-bearing recycle streams (FCF slag, reverts, other).
3. Recording accurate and continuous data and generating timely reports with root cause analysis of deviations in quality specifications.
4. Implementing SOP and WI implementations and corrective action.
5. Analysing compliance with environment norms at the Anode Plant and reporting improvement actions.
6. Analysing consumption, inventory including spares, and cost of procurement in order to help the Anode Plant operate with optimum level of stock and eliminate wastage.
7. Monitoring performance of operators at Anode Plant to identify training needs and coaching for improvement.

What skills and experience do you need?

1. Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering / Chemical Engineering.
2. 1-2 years of experience of QA/QC in process plants.
3. Familiar with sampling procedures and Quality Control tools.
4. Domain knowledge QA/QC standards and practices.
5. Possess certifications or training in ISO 9001 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System), and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System).
6. Excellent attention to detail.
