Business Development Manager, Industry Applications

Job Description:

On behalf of our client, a global market and technology leader in Engineered Joining Technology solutions, with more than 60 years of manufacturing and product-development experience. Headquartered in Maintal, Germany, employing more than 8,100 employees, it has a global network of manufacturing facilities and numerous sales and distribution sites across Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific.

We are looking for a Business Development Manager, Industry Applications (Indonesia).

The ideal candidate will be responsible for growing sales revenue through the establishment of distribution networks within the defined market sectors of:

  • Hardware & AAM (Automotive After Market)
  • Power Generation & Distribution
  • Oil & Gas
  • Marine
  • Data Centre
  • Other Industrial (F&B, Textiles, Manufacturing)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take on full commercial responsibility for the Industry Applications business unit for Indonesia, including:
  • Pricing and Margins within the country.
  • Preparation for financial plans including forecasting, budgeting, and the 5-year strategic plan.
  • Customer and account management, including receivable collection.
  • Any other metrics aligned with group objectives.
  • Responsible for developing the Industry Applications business unit:
  • Define market structures and relevant market segments.
  • Identify targets and their potential.
  • Identify from the NORMA Group portfolio of products and brands the target product ranges that fit market needs.
  • Develop/set-up distribution partners and customers.
  • Establish Company Brands in the market based on innovation, value to customers, service, and quality.
  • Develop marketing initiatives to promote sales of company products.
  • Interface into the group through regional meetings, common visits, and daily use of an eCRM tool.
  • Build strong long-term working relationships with key strategic customers.
  • Build and sustain similar relationships with internal partners in the region, other regions, and HQ.
  • Provide strong leadership to the team, ensuring high morale, teamwork, and good employee relations.
  • Actively support the Company policies, procedures, and workplace rules.

Reporting Responsibilities:

This position reports to the Vice President Business Development, Industry Applications Asia Pacific based in China and has a dotted line report to the Regional Business Development Manager based in Indonesia.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This role is a sole contributor.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Basic degree in Engineering and a postgraduate qualification in sales and marketing.
  • 5 years of experience in a similar position and environment.
  • Previous experience working in a multinational company.
  • Experience in or setting up distribution networks.
  • Demonstrated ability to penetrate new markets and close deals.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels within an international manufacturing environment.
  • Strong written and spoken English is a must.
  • Local national or permanent resident speaking and writing the local language.
  • Ability to develop an internal, informal network.
  • Proficient in the use of standard software packages.
  • Ability to work autonomously and effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment, self-motivated, with a strong entrepreneurial spirit.
