What you'll do

As a member of the HPCC IT team, you will contribute to the design, architecture, and end-to-end deployment in a mixed environment of Linux and Windows operating systems, with a primary emphasis on Linux, both on-premise datacenters and in the public cloud. The primary role will be to support the various Viasat engineers in our existing business and as we continue to grow and deploy new services globally.

The day-to-day

Your duties will include tasks such as installing server operating systems, designing, and implementing Linux-focused enterprise-level applications and clusters. You will support operating system issues, troubleshoot, and maintain servers and applications. This role requires remote work on systems located globally. The ideal candidate will have a strong systems administration background focusing on Linux, with scripting and automation experience.

What you'll need

• AWX/Ansible playbook creation and problem resolution.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, GitLab runners, etc.
• Extensive experience in system administration of RedHat 7+ (and associated flavors), Ubuntu 20, Windows Server 2016, resolving issues.
• Strong understanding of Network File System (NFS), TCP/IP, DNS, CIFS/SAMBA, Linux Logical Volumes.
• Ability to develop scripts for automating routine tasks (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).
• Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

What will help you on the job

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Linux and Windows system administration.
• Experience with Canonical Metal As A Service (MaaS) deployments.
• Knowledge of HPC Schedulers (Grid Engine/SLURM/LSF).
• Experience supporting and deploying in public cloud environments with automation.
• Familiarity with AWS EC2, FSx, VPC, and Global Load Balancers.
• Support and management of containerized workloads via Docker.
• Experience supporting industry-standard engineering tools such as Ansys HFSS, Ansys Fluids & Structures, Cadence Virtuoso, Xilinx Vivado, Mentor Graphics Expedition, MATLAB.
• Support experience with Dell PowerScale and working with Dell R series servers.
• Understanding of hardware OOB management (iDRAC/iLO).
