Job Summary:
The Senior Plant Manager (Quarry) will be responsible for the overall safe, efficient, and profitable operation of our quarry site. This includes managing all aspects of quarrying activities such as drilling, blasting, extraction, crushing, screening, processing, maintenance, and logistics. The role demands strong leadership in health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance, production optimization, cost control, quality assurance, and team development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operations & Production Management:
- Oversee all daily quarry operations, ensuring production targets for volume and quality of aggregates are met efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Develop and implement operational plans, schedules, and resource allocation (manpower, equipment, materials).
- Manage drilling, blasting (in coordination with certified shotfirers), loading, hauling, crushing, and screening processes.
- Monitor plant performance, analyze production data, and implement corrective actions to optimize output and minimize downtime.
- Oversee stockpile management and ensure accurate inventory control.
- Maintenance & Asset Management:
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance program for all fixed and mobile quarry plant equipment (crushers, screens, excavators, loaders, haul trucks, etc.).
- Minimize equipment downtime and optimize asset lifecycle through effective maintenance strategies.
- Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, and external service providers.
- Quality Control & Assurance:
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure all products meet specified standards and customer requirements.
- Oversee regular sampling, testing, and analysis of quarried materials.
- Address any quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
- Financial & Team Management:
- Develop and manage the quarry's operational budget, ensuring adherence to financial targets.
- Monitor operational costs, identify areas for cost reduction, and implement efficiency improvements.
- Prepare regular reports on production, costs, HSE, and other key performance indicators (KPIs) for senior management.
- Lead, manage, and motivate a diverse quarry team (operators, maintenance staff, supervisors, administrative personnel).
- Foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Identify training needs, conduct performance appraisals, and support the development of team members.
- Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, or a related technical discipline.
- Valid Quarry Manager's Certificate of Competency issued by Jabatan Mineral dan Geosains Malaysia (JMG) is mandatory.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in quarry operations, with at least 5 years in a significant plant management or supervisory role.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale quarry operations, including drilling, blasting, crushing, screening, and material handling.
- Strong understanding of heavy plant and equipment used in quarrying, including their maintenance.
