WRI Indonesia is an independent research organization that turns big ideas into action at the nexus of environment, economic opportunity, and human well-being. We aim to bring innovations in research and business approaches to create enabling conditions for Indonesia to achieve robust economic growth while respecting environmental and social values. Our goal is to contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals by working with leaders in public and private sectors and collaborating with civil society organizations to turn big ideas into action.

KONEKSI – Digital Solutions for Advancing Rice Supply Chain Governance in Bali

This program aims to ensure high-quality rice availability in Bali by strengthening supply chain management through monitoring platforms, benefiting farmers and consumers. It promotes sustainability, gender equality, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI), involving women, vulnerable populations, and gender-balanced groups to address structural inequalities. Key activities include data collection, stakeholder analysis, user research, and platform enhancement to provide timely, accurate information.

The program also emphasizes stakeholder engagement and capacity building through workshops, sharing sessions, and pilot tests. Policy analysis aims to identify GEDSI gaps and advocate for reforms. Participatory research involves local communities to ensure inclusivity and empowerment. Expected outcomes include increased awareness among policymakers and communities, strengthened capacity of GEDSI groups, improved social inclusion, and sustainable agricultural governance, fostering an inclusive and sustainable future for Bali.

Data Lab Indonesia

The Data Lab Unit aims to be a hub for open-source data, code, and visualizations, fostering data democratization and collaboration among NGOs and development partners. It addresses challenges like platform management, technical inconsistencies, and high employee turnover to ensure sustainability and impact. This initiative transforms grant-dependent outputs into tools for climate resilience, social equity, and conservation, promoting systemic, data-driven solutions and addressing financial sustainability to scale impact.
