Job description

We are looking for a talented Regional Area Manager to be responsible for the achievement of OUP's business development strategies both annually and long-term in the assigned territory(ies).


Key responsibilities:

  • To propose the strategy for the assigned markets, seek and obtain input and agreement from all key stakeholders and implement as agreed in order to ensure growth is achieved in line with ELT's overall mission.
  • To secure an effective, long-term position in this growing ELT market while also elevating and ensuring the profile of responsible markets are maximized. Ensure that market and competitor intelligence and forecast are delivered to senior management teams.
  • To have academic/pedagogical credibility with the strong network of educational influencers to work with senior policy makers and educationalists in the markets.
  • To manage a small team in the assigned territories, in order to ensure effective promotion and profitable adoptions leading by its distributors.
  • To recruit, monitor, coach and support team members in assigned territories in order to ensure high quality local teams achieving annual goals, within defined overheads budgets, as determined by the Group.
  • To establish a close working relationship with other functions based in assigned territories and Group to ensure shared goals and a co-ordinated approach. Work with Marketing Manager to be sure all products are promoted in line with market strategy, and identify new title launch schedule and plans.
  • To provide strong and effective leadership to ensure communication and cooperation with local distribution partners and government departments are effective and in line with ELT divisional directions. Ensure that distributors have the tools needed for effective promotion and closing and manage distributors to achieve purchase forecasts.
  • As the senior employee within assigned territories to represent ELT/OUP as appropriate in meetings or at relevant events functioning as a strong and articulate advocate for OUP, its values and mission.
  • To ensure legal and regulatory compliance of OUP's offices in the designated territories, which includes health and safety, employment law, financial controls and OUP policies and procedures
  • To manage over-head, budgeting and accounting: responsibility for all budgeting and accounting as required for the Indonesia office in order to comply with internal and external needs.
  • As the senior employee to support and oversee all HR issues working with Senior HRBP in order to ensure appropriate processes and policies are followed.
  • To be responsible for the efficient management of the office, including all facilities, to ensure that the office is run within agreed budgets and that staff have the facilities that they need to do their jobs.
  • To follow compliance guidelines and procedure announced by the group to ensure our business operation, cooperation with partners, clients and staff management are all compliant.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree holder
  • More than 10 years of relevant experience with a large educational or general publisher
  • Proven track record in a leadership capacity preferably working within a multicultural/lingual environment
  • Ability to operate on a cross regional and cross functional basis and work with different departments globally
  • Senior experience of managing and developing individuals
  • Extensive knowledge of ELT
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
