Job description

This position will be responsible to monitoring and ensure all logistic activities related to bulk oil shipment from the loading point to the unloading point run smoothly in a cost-effective and timely manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Hiring transportation, especially barges for bulk oil shipment.
  • Monitoring the shipment activity from loading to the unloading point in order to ensure the bulk oil cargo safely arrives in timely manner. This activity also includes installations on board, in cooperation with the assigned surveyor or field team.
  • Lead negotiations for acquisition of transportation services, especially with shipping owners/shipping companies to provide efficient and timely transportation of bulk oil cargo.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with logistic service provider (shipping owner/shipping companies, freight companies, surveyor agencies) and other related parties.
  • Completes fulfillment of shipments using cost-effective service providers.
  • Calculate and compare shipping rates from different shipping owners/shipping companies to get and recommend the lowest shipping costs to keep it within budget or reduce shipping costs.
  • Taking proper action in case of pilferages/shortage/theft, penalty should be implied to the vendors.
  • Co-ordination with processes and systems, related to Accident Reporting, Accident repairing and Insurance Claim Settlement, Assessing Damages, dealing with Surveyors for Assessment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Logistics, or related field required.
  • Four or five years minimum of experience in Palm Oil industry especially in bulk oil logistic is a MUST.
  • Has a good knowledge of loading points across Indonesia is a MUST.
  • Has a good knowledge of loading/unloading barges and installations.
  • Has an extensive list of contact and has good network of with barge owners or bulk oil shipping companies.
  • Willing to travel frequently as needed (to loading point areas across Indonesia).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Ms. Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in English will be an advantage.
  • Excellent organizing skills and attention to detail with the proven ability to manage and coordinate a variety of shipments and shipping methods.
  • Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Preferably domicile in Medan area or willing to be placed in Medan.
