Responsibilities
Responsibilities of our Country Manager for Malaysia, include but are not limited to:
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive go-to-market strategy covering pricing, trade terms, route-to-market, and portfolio priorities.
- Sales & Revenue Growth: Drive revenue and market share through a mix of modern trade, general trade (where relevant), and digital commerce channels.
- Customer Relationship Management: Build strong joint business plans with key accounts and lead quarterly reviews to optimize sell-in and sell-out performance.
- Watsons Singapore Management: Maintain quarterly strategic reviews with the Watsons Singapore team to ensure alignment, continuity, and growth.
- Guardian Brunei Management: Maintain quarterly strategic reviews with the Guardian Brunei team to ensure alignment, continuity, and growth.
2. Retail, Distribution & Trade Marketing
- Retail & Distribution Management: Expand Youvit’s presence by onboarding and nurturing strong relationships with key retailers, wholesalers, and regional distributors.
- Marketing & Brand Building: Execute impactful brand and trade marketing programs (online & offline) to support visibility, conversion, and consumer pull.
- Activation & Execution: Ensure flawless in-store execution (availability, visibility, planogram, POS materials) via modern trade or retail execution partners.
- Field Force Management: Monitor field force productivity metrics (e.g., Perfect Store, Coverage, Calls).
- Market Research & Strategy: Continuously analyze competitive landscape, consumer insights, and retail trends to sharpen category and channel strategies.
- Product Development: Lead local innovation input by providing structured feedback to Product Development on white space and product performance.
4. Finance, Supply Chain & Compliance
- Financial & Performance Management: Full P&L responsibility. Track KPIs, optimize budgets, and report monthly results with corrective action plans when needed.
- Supply Chain & Demand Planning: Coordinate with central teams to forecast demand accurately and ensure optimal inventory and on-time delivery.
- S&OP Routines: Implement S&OP routines and liaise with the internal supply chain team to prevent stockouts or overstock.
- Regulatory & Compliance Oversight: Ensure that all products, communications, and claims are fully compliant with Malaysian (and Singaporean) regulations.
5. People & Culture
- Team Leadership: Build and manage a growing cross-functional team (currently 4 pax), fostering a high-performance, high-ownership culture aligned with Youvit values.
- Talent Development: Nurture talent via coaching, clear goal setting, and structured performance reviews.
- Field Force Training: Implement routines for frontline team feedback, internal training, and cross-department collaboration.
- Brand Ambassador: Serve as the cultural ambassador of Youvit in Malaysia and Singapore – upholding company values internally and externally.
6. Reporting & Communication
- Business Reporting: Deliver structured monthly reporting to HQ covering revenue performance, account status, market dynamics, and key action items.
- Business Intelligence: Utilize CRM, retail audit tools, and dashboards to create visibility across the leadership team on execution KPIs.
Qualifications
We are looking for seasoned leader with the following qualifications:
Experience & Background
- Strong track record in Modern Trade Retail.
- 5+ years in Consumer Goods (preferably Health & Beauty)
- Passion for brand building and business management
- Exposure to both start-up (hands-on) and corporate (best-practice) environments
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills - 'getting-things-done' over a process driven mentality; systematic thinking, strong analytical, communication and excellent problem-solving skills.
Cultural
- Fluent in English (bonus: Chinese & Malay)
- Strong commercial instincts with passion for Health & Beauty
- Someone who lives the category (e.g. health & beauty enthusiast)
- High integrity, grit, and ownership mindset
- Agile in fast-paced and ambiguous environments
- Data-driven with strong analytical & execution skills
Education & Technical Competence
- Bachelor's in Business/Marketing (MBA preferred)
- Experienced in brand building, sales, and business management
- Proven success in launching and scaling brands in international markets
Local Relevance
- Majority of professional experience in Malaysia
- Familiar with regulatory & market dynamics in vitamins/supplements
