Job Description

TheVisual Designerconveys design concepts into wireframes and high-fidelity, quality prototypes that align with project requirements, product objectives, brand personality, and the brand language ofTraveloka.

He/She conductsvisual auditsandvisual design researchon competitors’ products and market trends, usingdata-driven insightsto uncover new ways of visual delivery and provide recommendations to relevant stakeholders. Additionally, he/she visualizes new design ideas by creatingsketches, building mock-ups, and designing prototypesduring the development phase of visual output.

TheVisual Designeris responsible for theoverall visual solution, includingease of use, readability, and visual product understandingto help users complete tasks efficiently. Therefore, he/she possesses strong mastery in producingvisual outputacross various formats, including:

• Illustrations
• Low-fidelity to high-fidelity prototypes
• Storyboards
• Infographics
• Animation/Motion graphics

He/She must be able to visualize concepts in their intended forms for stakeholders to ensuredesign intentis effectively communicated.

To achieveoptimal product fit and quality, he/she should be able to managemultiple tasks concurrently, delivering within deadlines while adapting to ahigh level of changes and iterations. Additionally, the Visual Designer demonstratesstrong stakeholder management skills, collaborating withinternal teamsto develophigh-quality creative solutionsthat meet overallbusiness objectives and goals.

Critical Work Functions & Key Tasks

Visualize and Implement Designs

• Clarify the assigned design project scope, including itsgoals, requirements, and expectations.
• Interpretillustrations, computer-aided design files, and/or other modeling databased on the specified project scope.
• Translateaccurate visualizationsfrom design concepts based on communicated requirements.
• Executesketches, prototypes, visualizations, and mock-upsrequired by engineers for development.
• Createvisual representationsof the user journey using tools such asuser flows, storyboards, or illustrations.
• Producevisual designsandtest specificationsfor new design ideas while participating in design research.

Enhance Design Work

• Executeprimary and secondary visual design researchfor data gathering if required.
• Consolidatevisual audit and research findingson competitors' projects and market trends for reporting to relevant stakeholders.
• Generate ideas fornew design concepts and prototypes.
• Participate indesign research and workshop activitiesfor insight gathering.
• Prototype and testproposed design solutions, iterating based on design specifications to ensure readiness for launch.
• Communicateoutcomes of design testsand project implementation.
• Incorporatefeedback from previous iterationsinto future mock-ups and design tasks.

Conduct Usability Testing

• Conductusability and concept testingof design prototypes in laboratory settings, remotely, and in real-life scenarios.
• Analyze and synthesizeuser and expert feedbackon thenavigation, visual user interface performance, and overall design quality.
• Recommend refinements and iterations based on usability and concept testing results, identifyingpotential big ideasfor future improvements.
• Monitor thequality of user interaction and visual designover time based on success metrics, providingactionable insightsto improve product performance.

Additional Key Skills & Experience

• Proven experience insuccessfully delivering products in/for the Southeast Asia and/or regional markets.
• Strongcommunication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to buildconsensus across a broad, fast-moving organization.
• Expertise innegotiation, providing constructive feedback, presentation skills, managing expectations, and conflict resolution.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• 1–5 years of experienceas a hands-on Designer in the industry.
• Educational background inVisual Communication Design, Interaction Design, Product Design, Service Design, or other relevant Digital Design disciplines; orHuman-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or related fieldswith equivalent practical design experience.
• Portfolio showcasing visual design craft, application ofvisual communication design principles, and an understanding ofHuman-Centered Design methodology, methods, and tools.
• Willingness tolearn, iterate, and continuously improve; passionate aboutdesign and storytelling.
• Experience working withweb or mobile-based technologiesusingdesign and prototyping tools(e.g., Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, Balsamiq, Zeplin, ProtoPie, Miro, etc.).
• Fluency in English(both verbal and written).
• Strongsense of accountability, adaptability, and ability to embrace ambiguitywhile collaborating in afast-paced environment.

• Experience working inmultidisciplinary design, business, and tech teams.
• Strongdesign sensibilitiesin applyingbrand identityto digital experiences.
