Azure Technology Sales Professional - Data & AI

The purpose of this role

Engage with customer technical decision makers and influencers in the Data & AI space.

Leverage insights from customer data platforms, Microsoft’s Data & AI portfolio, and deep technical or industry knowledge to build credibility and trust. Lead technical wins in advanced analytics, AI/ML, data platform modernization, cloud-scale databases, generative AI, and Agentic AI.

Proactively address blockers by collaborating with engineering and product teams, using support with minimal guidance.

Support partner co-sell initiatives by acting as a Data & AI liaison, ensuring alignment on architecture, tools, and delivery frameworks. Gather and share competitive intelligence on emerging Data & AI trends, providing feedback to product teams to influence capabilities and roadmap strategies. Offer strategic technical input to shape account plans and win strategies, emphasizing the business value of Data & AI solutions.

Customize demonstration assets to showcase real-time insights, predictive models, and GenAI capabilities.

Provide architectural guidance on scalable, secure, and responsible Data & AI solutions. Coach the account team to apply data-driven sales methodologies aligned with customer digital transformation goals. Develop and execute a readiness plan focused on AI, data governance, and analytics trends, addressing skill gaps. Lead group enablement sessions and large-scale engagements to promote Microsoft’s Data & AI value.

Stay current and share knowledge by participating in technical communities.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years of technical pre-sales or consulting experience, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant fields AND 8+ years of experience in technical pre-sales or consulting.
  • 4+ years experience with Data & AI, cloud/hybrid infrastructures, architecture design, migrations, industry standards, or technology management.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Data Engineer, Azure AI Engineer, or from other hyperscalers).
Responsibilities

Build Strategy:

  • Represent the customer voice by gathering feedback, blockers, insights, and resources across territories to influence product and service development.
  • Share competitive intelligence to enhance team capabilities and develop strategies.
  • Provide strategic, technical, and partner input to contribute to strategy development, leveraging partner and competitor insights.
  • Collaborate with account teams to craft customer win strategies and tailor Microsoft value messaging.
  • Monitor and analyze action plans to promote usage of key Microsoft solutions aligned with customer outcomes.

Scale Customer Engagements:

  • Build credibility with customers through knowledge of their context, solutions, and industry.
  • Leverage programs and proactively engage with engineering, product, and support teams to resolve blockers.
  • Ensure engagement quality and standards adherence.
  • Use standardized sales and delivery methodologies to identify opportunities and incorporate feedback.
  • Proactively address blockers to maximize engagement impact.
  • Engage with decision makers, identify needs, and demonstrate Microsoft solutions to influence technical buy-in.

Scale Through Partners:

  • Act as liaison in partner sell-with scenarios, sharing resources and processes.
  • Maintain relationships with pre-sale teams and partners, selecting top go-to partners for early engagement.

Solution Design and Proof:

  • Present and customize architecture patterns for partners and customers.
  • Apply and adapt demonstration assets.
  • Lead demonstrations and proof of concept sessions, leveraging partner/customer teams as needed.
  • Review partner demos and provide feedback to ensure alignment with standards.

Technical Leadership:

  • Conduct training sessions, webinars, and workshops to educate on Microsoft solutions.
  • Participate in community posts, sessions, and hackathons, and mentor others.
  • Contribute to Customer Executive Briefing Center sessions.
  • Share best practices and grow domain knowledge through engagement with customers, partners, and colleagues.
