e-Commerce Platform Integrity, Product Policy, and Compliance

Our team in Public Policy and Government Relations (PPGR) plays a key role in ensuring that our products meet regulatory standards and align with the needs of the communities we serve. We are currently seeking a specialist to join our team, focusing on the e-commerce vertical for the Indonesia market. Responsibilities

  • Government Relationships and Regulatory Intel/Insights:

Build world-class relationships with key government stakeholders to cultivate trust, mitigate risks, and protect the business. Provide regional and global leadership with world-class intel and insights on local political and regulatory dynamics to facilitate strategic business decisions.

  • Stakeholder Engagement:

Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant sectoral regulators, especially the Ministry of Trade, to stay ahead of emerging regulations and influence policy discussions on e-commerce and related sectors. Represent the company in regulatory discussions with regulators, industry associations, and relevant stakeholders. Mitigate tangible regulatory risks and safeguard our business' license to operate in the market.

  • Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure compliance with e-commerce and related regulations once they are issued, particularly in areas of platform, seller, and listing governance as well as customer protection. Work with the Regulatory & Advocacy pillar to monitor and assess regulatory changes in the Indonesian e-commerce landscape, ensuring our platform’s content moderation and safety policies align with local laws and global standards.

  • Incident and Risk Management:

Respond to regulatory inquiries and non-compliance incidents faced by our e-commerce business. Manage communications with regulators to maintain positive working relationships and avoid further escalations that could lead to tangible business risks. Coordinate efforts with relevant internal teams to address any compliance issues swiftly and effectively, while ensuring a consistent approach to policy implementation and alignment with global standards.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration:

Work with the Regulatory & Advocacy pillar to provide clear updates and compliance guidance to internal teams on new regulations and compliance risks. Work closely with internal governance, legal, and other related teams to integrate regulatory requirements into product development and operational processes.

  • Product Review:

Conduct internal product and feature reviews for future launches in the Indonesia market to ensure alignment with local laws and regulations, and proactively mitigate any potential compliance risks.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in public policy, government relations, or regulatory affairs, with a focus on e-commerce or technology platforms.
  • Proven experience working with sectoral regulators, particularly Trade Ministry, Communication & Digital Ministry, and Food & Drugs Agency, and a well-established network within relevant government bodies.
  • Strong understanding of compliance issues in e-commerce and related sectors in Indonesia.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a proactive, self-motivated approach.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess regulatory frameworks and provide operational guidance.
  • Fluency in both English and Bahasa Indonesia.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in social media, user generated content (UGC), and/or related digital sectors.
  • Familiarity with global e-commerce practices and frameworks.
