The main job of this role is to maintain the highest level of safety and productivity in all blasting activities. This position will interact with contractors and liaise with other related departments. The ideal candidate must have strong leadership, regulatory knowledge, and good communication skills to support the main responsibilities. Additionally, the role involves managing all related parties to achieve their best performance and continuous improvement.
Main Accountabilities
- Maintain the highest level of safety and productivity in all blasting activities.
- Supervise, monitor, and control all activities to ensure targets such as magazine establishment, explosive permitting, purchase, delivery, storage, drilling, blasting, inventory, and powder factor meet production planning.
- Ensure explosive management, blasting products, and activities comply with regulations and company procedures.
- Uphold the Company Standards and Values.
- Promote safety awareness and best practices to create a safe work environment according to QHSE standards.
- Manage explosives, including magazine management, permitting, delivery, and storage, following safety standards and government regulations.
- Supervise and monitor drilling and blasting operations, coordinate with mining operations, provide supporting tools and equipment, oversee post-blast activities, and monitor broken inventory progress.
- Ensure drilling and blasting procedures are followed at all times, rectify deficiencies, review performance, and recommend improvements to meet production targets.
- Monitor inventory to align with 'Diggable Days' targets and prevent over-blasting or hard digging.
- Implement drill and blast activities according to company procedures and regulations, including permit monitoring.
- Develop and maintain efficient operating procedures and practices, applying the most optimal methods.
- Provide reports and conduct handover meetings to ensure operational continuity.
- Ensure training and competency matrices are in place and implemented for the Mining & Hauling departments.
- Manage and ensure the safety of mining and hauling activities and support operations.
- Report to the Technical Mine Manager regarding the safety of all subordinate mine workers.
Job Qualifications
- S1 (Bachelor’s Degree) in Mining, Civil Engineering, or Geology.
- Operational Supervisor Certification (POP).
- Familiarity with Blasting Software (SHOTplus) is an advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in drill and blasting operations in coal mining.
- At least 3 years in a supervisory or engineering role in mining.
- Ability to work remotely.
- Adherence to highest HSE standards.
- Ability to work on shifts, in teams, and adapt to work culture.
