Overview
PROJECT/OPERATIONAL DIRECTOR (CONSTRUCTION)
Key Responsibilities
- Plan the entire project lifecycle, including the survey phase, feasibility study, and design planning
- Develop budgeting, scheduling, phasing, and construction strategies
- Establish SOPs, work systems, and methodologies in project planning and management
- Monitor and control project budget, timeline, and quality assurance
- Supervise the implementation of SOPs, work systems, and construction methods
- Prepare and present project progress reports according to work phases to the CEO, Committee, or Shareholders
- Manage and coordinate both internal and external parties across all project phases
- Communicate with third parties, including business partners, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and government representatives
- Maximize team performance by aligning individual qualifications with project needs
- Provide coaching and feedback to project team members to enhance motivation and productivity
- Collaborate with HRD to identify staff development needs and implement relevant development programs
- Ensure full compliance with safety and risk management protocols, especially in high-risk or hazardous work environments
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Minimum 15 years of experience in the construction and high-risk sectors
- At least 5 years in a senior leadership role such as Senior Project Manager or General Manager of Projects
- Strong understanding of legal permits, government regulations, and compliance requirements
- Experienced in negotiating with contractors and managing complex contracts
- Proven ability in risk mitigation,safety compliance, and emergency response planning
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills
- Able to balance strategic thinking with attention to operational detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and other relevant project management software
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in large-scale construction project management, with at least 5 years in a senior managerial or GM role.
- Strong technical knowledge of civil, structural, and site infrastructure construction.
- Proficiency in construction management tools such as Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, etc.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Solid knowledge of local construction laws, permitting, and site safety requirements.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, contracts, and large site teams.
- High frequency visit to sites and stakeholders’ meetings.
