A leading maritime company in Jakarta Utara is seeking a Director Technical to oversee the technical performance, maintenance, and safety of their bulk carrier fleet. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering and at least 15 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in a senior role. The Director Technical will be responsible for managing the technical performance, maintenance, and safety of our bulk carrier fleet. This includes overseeing vessel inspections, dry-dockings, compliance, cost management, and leading technical teams to ensure vessels operate efficiently and reliably in line with company strategy and international regulations.
Lead the technical management of bulk carrier vessels to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
Oversee maintenance, repairs, dry-docking, and vessel inspections.
Ensure compliance with international and Indonesian shipping regulations, including ISM, ISPS, MARPOL, and class requirements.
Manage technical budgets, control OPEX and CAPEX costs, and report performance to senior management.
Drive cost-efficiency while safeguarding quality, safety, and operational standards.
Establish preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and optimize vessel performance.
Lead and mentor superintendents, technical managers, and vessel crew on technical operations.
Build and maintain strong relationships with classification societies, flag states, shipyards, and external stakeholders.
Monitor new technologies and recommend technical improvements for fleet optimization.
Implement and enforce company policies on safety, quality, and environmental protection.
Prepare and present technical reports, performance reviews, and improvement plans.
Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum 15 years of experience in technical management of bulk carriers, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Chief Engineer license (Class 1) or equivalent qualification is a strong advantage.
In-depth knowledge of bulk carrier technical operations, repairs, and maintenance.
Strong understanding of ISM Code, MARPOL, SOLAS, and classification requirements.
Proven ability to manage OPEX and CAPEX budgets effectively.
Excellent leadership, communication, and people management skills.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
High level of integrity, resilience, and commitment to safety and excellence.
