Job description

The role encompasses the design, installation and maintenance of essential services and equipment found in the buildings, including water, gas and electricity supplies, lighting, heating and air-conditioning, ICT, security systems, lifts and escalators.

Key accountabilities will include:

1. Reviewing installation plans and specifications to ensure that they deliver to what the building/client needs.
2. Advising the design team on the co-ordination of services within the overall building design, for example, advice on how much space is needed above ceilings to accommodate ventilation systems and other services.
3. Reviewing prices for services work.
4. Testing and checking installations.
5. Making sure jobs meet building regulations and health and safety requirements.
6. Attending meetings and presenting ideas and progress reports to managers and clients.
7. Advising clients on how the building services will operate once the building is complete.
8. Helping to protect the environment by keeping energy wastage to a minimum within the building services.

Other responsibilities include:

1. Managing M&E Health and safety onsite.
2. Reviewing M&E RAMS/SSW (Weekly and Monthly).
3. Daily health and safety checks.

Managing M&E Subcontractors onsite, including quality inspections:

1. Sign off close sheets.
2. Quality reports issued to Subcontractors.
3. Chase Subcontractors to rectify issues raised.
4. Manage the Subcontractors program.
5. Building and managing the Subcontractors commissioning program.

Subcontractor Management:

1. Assist QS in the SC tender returns/analyses for compliance.
2. Read and understand what each Subcontract order (M&E) is, for example, labor levels etc.
3. Take ownership of managing the M&E contractors.
4. Understand what is in Consultants Term and Conditions.
5. Review the consultant design as the drawings arrive (cross check against ERs and CPs) VE there and then by highlighting the drawings/spec.
6. Liaison with design team on feasibility of design within project constraints.
7. Provide technical support and expertise to the internal project team as well as acting as advisory for the Group.
8. Ensure the efficient production of engineering information in accordance with project conditions and requirements, taking account of the CDM and other statutory regulations and the company's quality and program requirements.
9. Attending design team/site meetings as and when required and providing input on M&E issues as necessary.
10. Tracking design and contract progress and have full awareness of the stats requirements for each scheme.
11. Liaise with various stat suppliers to obtain quotes and best price for installation - Define capacity needed - Manage all stages through to completion.
12. Updating progress reports and M&E program.
