Job summary

Traveloka, a Jakarta-based tech startup, is seeking a data scientist to translate business challenges into data-driven models and collaborate with ML engineering to deploy solutions. The candidate will own the end-to-end modeling cycle from ideation to production.

Experience with ranking, search relevance, or recommender systems is preferred, along with strong Python and SQL skills. The role emphasizes independent work on ambiguous problems and close collaboration with product teams to deliver

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in Data Science or a related role.
• Strong ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Familiar with LLM-based systems (embeddings, structured extraction)
• Experience in ranking, recommendation, or search relevance
• Familiar with Causal Inference or Econometrics
• Experience in Optimization Techniques or Simulation
• Strong Python and experience with ML/Stats libraries (scikit-learn, LGBM, XGBoost, etc.).
• Proficient in SQL for data manipulation and analysis.
• Proactive, self-motivated, comfortable working independently on ambiguous problems.
• Comfortable working alongside AI tools (eg. Claude Code) to accelerate model development and analysis.
