Job description

Data Analyst

Who We Are

Seven Clean Seas is an ocean-impact social enterprise dedicated to combating plastic pollution while fostering sustainable livelihoods. We build Ocean Impact Projects and empower communities to turn the tide on plastic pollution. We work with organisations to tackle upstream plastic consumption and to fund downstream plastic waste management through plastic credit mechanisms - an initiative that Seven Clean Seas is leading alongside a handful of other key market players.

We are seeking a Data Analyst to enhance our in-house technical capabilities and provide support for internal and external sustainability projects and deliverables.

The Role:

We are seeking a Data Analyst to enhance our technical capabilities and support both internal and external sustainability projects. In this full-time role based in Bali, Indonesia, you will report to Oliver Kade (UK Country Manager & CTO) and work closely with our team to provide data-driven insights. Your work will help track and amplify our impact, improve our tools, and inform strategies that further our mission of plastic waste reduction.

Responsibilities

  1. Data Analytics for Sustainability Projects: Conduct data analytics for client ESG and sustainability projects, translating raw data into actionable insights and reports.
  2. Impact Tracker Development: Support the development of our in-house impact-tracker web application, Periscope, ensuring data accuracy and useful feature enhancements.
  3. Dashboard & Model Building: Build professional dashboards and predictive models using Google Sheets and data visualisation tools, enabling clear communication of project metrics and outcomes.
  4. Client Support & Presentations: Assist in preparing analytical content for client meetings and presentations, clearly conveying findings and providing evidence-based recommendations.
  5. Web Application Development: Work with our third-party developers to advise on the ongoing development and improvement of our client impact tracker.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 2–4 years of relevant experience in data analysis, preferably in a sustainability or ESG context.
  • Education: A degree in data analytics, software engineering, sustainability, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of Python and SQL, along with familiarity with using data visualisation tools (e.g., Google Sheets, Power BI, Looker).
  • Analytical Ability: Strong attention to detail with a scientific approach to data. Competency in statistical analysis and excellent problem-solving skills are a must.
  • Communication: Clear communication skills, with the ability to support client interactions and confidently deliver presentations of your findings.

What We Offer

  • Competitive Compensation: A competitive salary with growth opportunities in a rapidly scaling organisation.
  • Purpose-Driven Mission: The chance to be part of a purpose-driven team creating a measurable environmental impact every day.
  • Dynamic Workplace: A dynamic, entrepreneurial startup environment with a clear path for career progression and professional development.
  • Tropical Lifestyle: The opportunity to live and work in beautiful Bali, surrounded by a passionate, close-knit team who genuinely care about each other and the mission.

Considerations:

  • This role is an office-based role in our Indonesian headquarters.
  • A three-month probationary period applies.
