Job summary

Princeton Digital Group is seeking a Controls Engineer to support the reliable operation, maintenance, and improvement of control systems at our hyperscale data center. You will manage BMS, EPMS, PLC/SCADA interfaces, metering, alarms, and related instrumentation, ensuring system integrity and performance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor day-to-day performance of control systems (BMS, EPMS, PLC/SCADA) and metering.
• Troubleshoot control and instrumentation issues; perform fault finding and corrective actions.
• Review alarms, trends, and logs to identify abnormalities and improvements.
• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance with vendors and contractors.
• Support incident response and document findings with corrective actions.
• Maintain procedures, alarm guides, and system documentation.
• Assist in controlled changes, backups, and patching as required.
• Monitor spare parts and asset lifecycle for critical systems.
• Prepare concise health updates and improvement recommendations.

We Are Looking For

As the Controls Engineer, you will report to the BMS Manager and support the reliable operation, maintenance, and improvement of control systems at our hyperscale data center. Your scope will cover BMS, EPMS, PLC/SCADA interfaces, metering, alarms, and related instrumentation. You will support day-to-day controls activities, including system monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, incident response, and system enhancements in line with PDG standards and site reliability objectives.

Working with the BMS Manager, critical facilities team, vendors, and contractors, you will monitor system performance, investigate faults, coordinate maintenance, support incident response, and contribute to controlled system improvements, testing, commissioning, and operational handover.

Job Responsibilities

Operations:

• Monitor the day-to-day performance of control systems, including BMS, EPMS, PLC/SCADA interfaces, metering, alarms, and related instrumentation.
• Support troubleshooting of control and instrumentation issues, including fault finding, root cause analysis, corrective actions, system recovery, and recurrence prevention.
• Review alarms, trends, logs, and system performance data to identify abnormalities, recurring faults, and improvement opportunities.
• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance with vendors and contractors, ensuring safe execution and accurate service records.
• Support incident response by reviewing event logs, analysing system behaviour, documenting findings, and following up on corrective actions.
• Maintain relevant operational procedures, alarm response guides, maintenance records, and control system documentation.
• Support controlled system changes, backup and recovery checks, user access reviews, patching coordination, and vulnerability remediation as required.
• Support control system asset lifecycle planning by monitoring spare parts availability, equipment condition, and potential technology obsolescence.
• Prepare concise system health updates, incident findings, and improvement recommendations as required.

Project Support:

• Provide operational input on maintainability, alarm management, integration, and readiness where project changes affect data center operations.
• Support FAT, SAT, testing, commissioning, system upgrades, and operational handover when required.
• Review relevant project documents, such as sequences of operation, alarm and points lists, O&M manuals, as-built drawings, and training materials.
• Highlight operational or handover gaps to the project team before systems are accepted into operations.

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Controls, Automation, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. Candidates with relevant technical certification and strong hands-on controls experience may also be considered.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in control systems operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, or commissioning. Experience in data centers or other mission-critical facilities is an advantage.
• Working knowledge of BMS or similar building automation and control systems, with exposure to EPMS, SCADA, PLC/DDC controllers, field instrumentation, or metering.
• Familiarity with common communication protocols used in building or industrial control systems, such as BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, or OPC.
• Hands-on experience in system monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, commissioning, or coordinating technical vendors.
• Ability to interpret control logic and common technical information, such as sequences of operation, wiring diagrams, points list, trends, or event logs.
• Exposure to testing, commissioning, system upgrades, or operational handover is an advantage.
• Able to prepare clear technical findings, maintenance records, procedures, and system health updates.
• Good communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work independently and escale operational risks promptly.
• Exposure to OT cybersecurity, industrial networking, or control system backup and recovery practices is an advantage.
• Basic understanding of critical facility infrastructure and control system asset lifecycle considerations is preferred.
