The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is seeking a Consumer Protection Officer.
Job Description
Reporting to the Assistant Director and Senior Officer of Competition, Consumer Protection & IPRs Division, the Officer shall be responsible for:
- Providing technical and administrative support to ASEAN sectoral bodies and other related units in the work on ASEAN integration and ASEAN cooperation with Dialogue Partners in consumer protection.
- Providing technical and administrative support with respect to implementation of programmes and projects in the area of consumer protection and related matters.
- Facilitating negotiation among ASEAN Member States and between ASEAN Member States and trade partners with regard to consumer protection and related matters.
- Liaising with dialogue and development partners to secure funding and cooperation and assisting in the implementation and monitoring of consumer protection-related projects.
- Assisting in the delivery of competition policy and law initiatives as and when the need arises.
Responsibilities
- Preparing and coordinating relevant documents for meetings.
- Arranging meeting logistics.
- Assisting in monitoring and tracking of ACCP projects and programmes.
- Conducting rapporteuring works in meetings.
- Assisting in facilitating discussions in meetings.
- Undertaking and coordinating follow-up actions and decisions with ASEAN Member States and Dialogue Partners.
- Providing regular reports and documentation to higher ASEAN bodies.
Qualifications and Experience
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent degree) with strong academic qualifications in International Economics, International Trade, Business/Management, Development Studies, International Business and Economic Law, or other appropriate related discipline.
- Bachelor degree with a minimum of two (2) years work experience in policy, research and other relevant technical role.
- Demonstrated knowledge and policy, research and technical skills in the relevant area.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with stakeholders and/or dialogue partners.
- Good command of English, written and spoken.
- Competency in computer skills with adequate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook.
