Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic construction team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing project costs, ensuring value for money, and maintaining effective cost control throughout all stages of the construction process.
This is a pivotal role that requires a commercially astute professional capable of working closely with project teams, clients, and subcontractors to drive financial efficiency and ensure contractual compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Planning & Estimating: Prepare and monitor detailed budgets and cost estimates throughout the project lifecycle.
Tender Management: Prepare tender documents, evaluate bids, and assist in selecting suitable subcontractors and suppliers.
Contract Administration: Draft, review, and manage contracts, variations, and claims.
Valuation & Payments: Conduct site valuations, prepare interim payment applications, and monitor payments to subcontractors.
Change Management: Evaluate and price variations and change orders. Maintain accurate records of all project changes.
Reporting & Forecasting: Produce cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and commercial risk assessments for internal and client reporting.
Final Accounts: Agree on and close final accounts with all stakeholders.
Compliance: Ensure that all financial practices comply with legal and contractual obligations.
Collaboration: Liaise with project managers, engineers, clients, and site teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Key Requirements Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
Professional membership (e.g., RICS, CIOB, or equivalent) preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 3–7 years of experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry.
Proven experience in commercial management across various project sizes and sectors (residential, infrastructure, commercial, etc.).
Familiarity with FIDIC, NEC, or JCT contracts.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in cost management tools (e.g., CostX, Candy, Buildsoft, or similar).
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
Advanced MS Excel skills and experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
Soft Skills:
Exceptional analytical and numerical skills.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working under pressure.
