Job summary

Ultra Clean Technology is seeking a Configuration Engineer to join our team in Malaysia. The role focuses on configuration management, engineering change control, and ensuring accurate BOMs and AVLs across projects.

You will collaborate with customers and internal teams to implement changes and improve processes. The ideal candidate has 5–8 years of related experience, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with PLM/ERP systems such as Agile and SAP.

Responsibilities

• Review and ensure configuration data accuracy for NOC/SO.

• Generate lists of new or revised parts for sourcing and quoting.
• Provide guidance and peer review to junior engineers.
• Collaborate with internal/external customers to resolve configuration issues.

UCT is looking for a talented Configuration Engineer to join us in Malaysia!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review and ensure NOC (Notice of Order Confirmation) and S.O (Sales Order) configurations accuracy
• Creating and submitting Engineering Changes through Agile follow established procedures.
• Coordinate change orders internally (ECO, ECR, etc) under the guidance of senior engineers and ensure timely implementation of approved changes
• Submitting Problem Report/ Supplier Problem Sheet to customer for BOM related issues (engineering-related issues)
• Understand the scope of the engineering change downstream
• Responsible for setting up, managing and revising all the customers' product information, i.e. BOMs, part numbers and AVLs to have proper control on assembly revision
• Generate list of new parts/new revision parts that need sourcing info to the quote team for pre-determined NPI projects
• Responsible for reviewing and implementing SRD (Supplier Request for Deviations)
• Understand the scope of the engineering change downstream
• Responsible for setting up, managing and revising all the customers' product information, i.e. BOMs, part numbers and AVLs to have proper control on assembly revision
• Validate and ensure all customer document packages such as Assembly DWG, Fabrication DWG, Procedure & Test and Manufacturing Instruction available and upload to Agile system
• Work closely with internal/external customers to resolve any configuration issues and serve as escalation support for moderate complexity configuration issues
• Act as the focal point for assigned products and independently manage configuration activities and change implementations
• Lead selected department improvement projects and support the implementation of process improvements that enhance performance quality, productivity and customer satisfaction
• Provide day‑to‑day technical guidance and peer review support to junior engineers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Degree in Engineering with 5 to 8 years of related experience
• Strong knowledge of configuration management principles, engineering change processes, BOM structures, and document control practices
• Proficiency with PLM/ERP systems (e.g., Agile, SAP, or equivalent)
• Ability to independently manage moderately complex configuration activities and change implementations
• Ability to analyse configuration‑related issues and recommend effective solutions
• Ability to assess downstream impacts of engineering changes across manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and customer requirements
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision‑making skills
• Ability to provide technical guidance, coaching, and peer review support to junior engineers
• Demonstrated capability to lead small to medium‑sized process improvement initiatives.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills across multiple functions and sites.
