Job Role

The Commissioning (CX) Engineer (Data Center) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading the end-to-end commissioning process for large-scale data center infrastructure projects. This role oversees testing strategies, system validation, commissioning documentation, subcontractor coordination, and integrated systems testing to ensure all facility systems perform in accordance with design specifications, operational requirements, and industry standards.

Working closely with project teams, consultants, contractors, equipment vendors, and clients, the successful candidate will lead commissioning activities from pre-functional testing through final integrated systems testing and client acceptance. The role plays a critical part in ensuring operational reliability, mitigating technical risks, and delivering mission-critical facilities that meet the highest standards of performance and quality.

This position is ideal for experienced commissioning professionals with strong expertise in data center infrastructure, MEP systems, integrated systems testing, and mission-critical project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute commissioning strategies, master test plans, commissioning procedures, and detailed test scripts for all phases of data center commissioning.
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), pre-commissioning, functional performance testing, integrated systems testing (IST), and final commissioning activities.
• Prepare commissioning documentation, testing procedures, method statements, and project deliverables to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Define commissioning equipment requirements, testing tools, and Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for load banks, testing instruments, and specialized commissioning resources.
• Coordinate with equipment suppliers, subcontractors, and testing vendors to support commissioning schedules, logistics, and technical execution.
• Lead on-site commissioning activities involving electrical, mechanical, HVAC, fire protection, Building Management Systems (BMS), and other mission-critical facility systems.
• Supervise subcontractors, contractors, and commissioning teams during testing, troubleshooting, and system validation activities.
• Conduct integrated systems testing, power failure simulations, redundancy validation, operational sequence verification, and performance testing to ensure facility readiness.
• Identify commissioning issues, manage punch-list items, recommend corrective actions, and verify resolution prior to project handover.
• Serve as the primary technical liaison with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders throughout commissioning, testing, and acceptance phases.
• Prepare commissioning reports, testing documentation, and final acceptance records to support successful project completion and client handover.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and project management teams to ensure safe, efficient, and timely delivery of mission-critical infrastructure projects.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in data center commissioning, MEP testing, quality assurance, or mission-critical facility commissioning.
• Proven experience leading commissioning activities for large-scale data center or mission-critical infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of commissioning methodologies, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), Functional Performance Testing (FPT), Integrated Systems Testing (IST), and commissioning documentation.
• Solid knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, fire protection, Building Management Systems (BMS), and integrated MEP systems.
• Experience conducting load bank testing, generator synchronization, UPS testing, power system validation, blackout simulations, and operational readiness assessments.
• Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Able to work under pressure and lead commissioning activities during critical testing windows, including evenings or weekends when required.
• Willing to travel frequently and support on-site project execution.
• Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
