Job description

· To lead the metallurgical process analysis and continuous improvement initiatives by applying advanced process analytical techniques and R&D studies to support Operations & Maintenance in the safe, efficient, and optimized expansion of the copper & gold mineral processing plant.

· Act as the technical lead in process metallurgy, supporting both upstream (crushing, grinding, flotation) and downstream (thickening, filtration, concentrate handling) operations.

· Oversee and analyze plant metallurgical performance, identify bottlenecks, and propose process improvement strategies to optimize recovery, throughput, and reagent usage.

· Design and supervise plant trials, pilot studies, and R&D projects related to process optimization and metallurgical innovation.

· Ensure reliable operation and data integrity from on-line analyzers, lab instrumentation, and process control tools.

· Collaborate with the Maintenance and Operations teams to troubleshoot metallurgical process issues and define corrective actions.

· Develop and maintain mass balance models, metallurgical accounting systems, and performance dashboards.

· Liaise with vendors, consultants, and technology providers for benchmarking, trials, and technology implementation.

· Provide metallurgical input for plant expansion projects, including equipment specification, process design, and commissioning support.

· Mentor junior metallurgists and technicians, fostering capability growth and knowledge transfer.

What skills and experience do you need?

Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering; Postgraduate degree (S2) is a plus.

Minimum 8 - 10 years of experience in the mining and mineral processing industry are necessary, ideally in copper and gold concentrator plants.

· Proven experience in both upstream and downstream process optimization; Hands-on experience with metallurgical test work, process modeling, or data analytics; Familiar with APC systems (e.g., FLSmidth ECS/ProcessExpert, ABB 800xA, or equivalent); Proven track record in technical project evaluation, management and control is essential; Experience in commissioning or expansion of a processing plant.

Proven knowledge of mineral processing, particularly in grinding, flotation fundamentals, and base metals beneficiation techniques is essential; Skilled in metallurgical sampling, assay validation, and data reconciliation; Has Technical knowledge of mining/processing processes and systems; Has Broad understanding of geology, mining and processing technical issues and operating processes/ systems; Proficiency in using metallurgical software and data tools; Familiarity with metal accounting standards.

Effective leadership and mentoring capabilities; Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and critical decision-making skills; Highly organized and proactive team player with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced; Strong work ethic, coupled with a sense of urgency and ability to get things done; Superior interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with people at all levels.

Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate; Strong report writing and presentation skills.
