Job description

· To provide metallurgical support across upstream and downstream processing areas, ensure effective operation of advanced process control systems, lead laboratory investigations and applied research, and deliver actionable production and accounting data analysis. The role supports continuous improvement, troubleshooting, and optimization of metallurgical processes in alignment with the company’s goal to expand processing plant capacity and achieve operational excellence.

· Monitor and evaluate performance of upstream processes, identify bottlenecks, and recommend improvement strategies; Analyze metallurgical performance metrics (recovery, grade, throughput, reagent consumption); Provide input for metallurgical modeling and simulation.

· Track performance and quality of concentrates; Support downstream operational troubleshooting and process audit.

· Collaborate with APC/Automation team to calibrate and validate process control models and parameters; Provide metallurgical logic and constraints for control loop design; Analyze APC impact on process stability and metallurgical KPIs.

· Design and supervise metallurgical test work (e.g., flotation kinetics, mineralogy, liberation analysis); Validate laboratory data integrity and ensure correlation with plant data; Recommend process improvements based on R&D results and lab trials.

· Validate metal balance, recoveries, and reconciliation of inputs/outputs from ore to concentrate; Prepare daily/monthly production reports, trend analysis, and forecast performance impacts; Support internal and external audits of production accounting data.

· Participate in commissioning, ramp-up, and post-expansion process stabilization; Provide technical evaluation of equipment, flowsheets, and metallurgical design criteria.

· Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Geology, and Environmental teams; Support training for plant operators and technicians on metallurgical principles and changes.

What skills and experience do you need?

Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or Chemical Engineering; Postgraduate degree (S2) is a plus.

Minimum 5-7 years of experience in the mining and mineral processing industry are necessary, ideally in copper and gold concentrator plants.

· Proven experience in both upstream and downstream process optimization; Hands-on experience with metallurgical test work, process modeling, or data analytics; Familiar with APC systems (e.g., FLSmidth ECS/ProcessExpert, ABB 800xA, or equivalent); Proven track record in technical project evaluation, management and control is essential; Experience in commissioning or expansion of a processing plant.

Proven knowledge of mineral processing, particularly in grinding, flotation fundamentals, and base metals beneficiation techniques is essential; Skilled in metallurgical sampling, assay validation, and data reconciliation; Has Technical knowledge of mining/processing processes and systems; Has Broad understanding of geology, mining and processing technical issues and operating processes/ systems; Proficiency in using metallurgical software and data tools; Familiarity with metal accounting standards.

Highly organized and proactive team player with ability to multi-task; Strong analytical skills with sound of judgement and decision-making ability; Strong work ethic, coupled with a sense of urgency and ability to get things done; Superior interpersonal skills and an ability to work with people at all levels.

Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate; Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills are essential.
