This role will also drive process optimization, troubleshooting, and cost reduction initiatives while ensuring consistent product quality and equipment reliability.
A strong background in electrical engineering, PLC programming, instrumentation engineering, and combustion system analysis is critical for this position. The engineer will collaborate closely with the production, maintenance, and quality assurance teams to ensure that process parameters and equipment performance are optimized to meet operational targets.
Key Responsibilities
Process Audit & Reliability Analysis
Perform comprehensive process audits on steel processing lines (rolling, forging, heat treatment, tempering).
Conduct detailed analysis of furnace gas combustion systems, burner performance, efficiency, and emissions.
Identify process bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and risks related to equipment and instrumentation.
Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode & effects analysis (FMEA) for critical equipment.
Audit and calibrate instrumentation and sensors critical to temperature control, flow, pressure, and combustion monitoring.
Evaluate and optimize PLC logic, control loops, HMI interfaces, and automation reliability.
Recommend and implement upgrades or retrofits to enhance equipment performance and process control stability.
Lead cross-functional troubleshooting on process deviations, equipment malfunctions, and quality issues.
Develop and implement process optimization strategies to reduce production costs and improve energy efficiency.
Provide engineering support for plant upgrades, new installations, and commissioning of equipment.
Generate comprehensive audit reports, technical evaluations, and improvement action plans.
Maintain accurate process documentation, instrumentation calibration records, and PLC program archives.
Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to equipment uptime, product quality, energy consumption, and maintenance efficiency.
Work closely with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to drive a culture of continuous improvement.
Provide technical training and coaching on combustion system management, instrumentation best practices, and process control.
