Overview
We are seeking an experienced Coffee Trade Manager to join our team (Location: Paksong, Laos). In this role, you will be responsible for buying and selling coffee beans, managing market dynamics, and maintaining profitable relationships with suppliers and buyers. Your primary focus will be on coffee trading, with additional responsibilities in agricultural commodities trading. We require a minimum of 5 years of experience in coffee beans trading or sales to ensure you can hit the ground running in this fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Market Analysis: Analyze the coffee market, including supply and demand factors, climate conditions, and economic trends.
- Market Opportunities: Identify and evaluate trading opportunities to maximize profitability.
- Trade Execution: Efficiently execute coffee bean trades, utilizing trading platforms and systems to manage positions.
- Price Monitoring: Monitor price movements and make informed decisions to optimize trade outcomes.
- Risk Management: Develop strategies to mitigate market risks and protect trading positions from price volatility.
- Market Adaptation: Adjust trading approaches based on market dynamics.
- Buyer Research: Research a full list of potential buyers for our offerings (currently green beans) in Thailand, Vietnam and the rest of Asia.
- Relationship Building: Build and sustain relationships with other coffee bean producers, suppliers, and buyers.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure favorable terms and successful transactions.
- Trade Representation: Participate in trade fairs to effectively represent our company and acquire new customers and build relationships.
- Logistics Coordination: Coordinate transportation and storage logistics to fulfill contractual obligations and ensure timely delivery.
- Logistics Collaboration: Collaborate with logistics partners to optimize supply chain efficiency.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all trading activities comply with relevant regulations and industry standards. Stay updated on trade regulations, tariffs and export/import restrictions affecting coffee trade.
- Performance Reporting: Maintain accurate records of trades and prepare reports to assess the profitability and effectiveness of trading strategies.
Skills and Qualifications
- Any existing contacts and connections with potential coffee bean buyers, particularly in Thailand and Vietnam, would be highly desirable.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in coffee bean trading or sales.
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, agribusiness, economics, finance, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting market data and identifying trends.
- Proficiency in using trading platforms and financial software for effective trade management.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills for fostering relationships with suppliers and buyers.
- Ability to thrive under pressure and in fast-paced environments.
- Knowledge of factors influencing coffee market dynamics, such as climate and global demand.
- Fluent English is mandatory; other languages such as Japanese, Thai or Laotian are preferable.
