The Role
We are looking for an experienced and operationally minded Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead and oversee the production and end-to-end operations of our organic fertilizer division. This executive will be responsible for optimizing plant efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing budgets, and delivering high-quality output aligned with sustainable practices and commercial goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and optimize daily plant operations for fertilizer production, ensuring output, quality, and cost objectives are met.
- Establish and implement best-in-class manufacturing processes, driving productivity, quality control, and resource efficiency.
- Ensure strict compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations in line with local and international standards.
- Collaborate with the executive team on production planning, forecasting, and strategy alignment.
- Manage operational budgets, monitor KPIs, and control costs to maximize plant profitability.
- Oversee procurement and sourcing of organic waste materials, ensuring sustainable and cost-efficient conversion into fertilizer.
- Build and lead high-performing operational teams, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Identify and mitigate operational risks, streamline workflows, and ensure smooth, scalable production.
- Lead process improvement initiatives, introducing lean manufacturing principles and digital transformation opportunities.
- Maintain close coordination with R&D, engineering, quality assurance, and logistics to ensure seamless production cycles.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Agriculture, Chemical Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in factory operations or manufacturing, including 3+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven expertise in the fertilizer, organic fertilizer, or waste-to-product conversion sector.
- Strong technical understanding of production workflows, materials sourcing, and operational strategy.
- Deep familiarity with EHS standards, permitting processes, and local manufacturing regulations.
- Demonstrated success in leading factory teams, managing cross-functional stakeholders, and navigating early-stage setups.
- Solid background in budgeting, cost control, and resource allocation.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Strong capability in data-driven decision-making and implementing KPIs across manufacturing operations.
- Willingness to travel and operate in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
