The Role

We are looking for an experienced and operationally minded Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead and oversee the production and end-to-end operations of our organic fertilizer division. This executive will be responsible for optimizing plant efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing budgets, and delivering high-quality output aligned with sustainable practices and commercial goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead and optimize daily plant operations for fertilizer production, ensuring output, quality, and cost objectives are met.
2. Establish and implement best-in-class manufacturing processes, driving productivity, quality control, and resource efficiency.
3. Ensure strict compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations in line with local and international standards.
4. Collaborate with the executive team on production planning, forecasting, and strategy alignment.
5. Manage operational budgets, monitor KPIs, and control costs to maximize plant profitability.
6. Oversee procurement and sourcing of organic waste materials, ensuring sustainable and cost-efficient conversion into fertilizer.
7. Build and lead high-performing operational teams, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
8. Identify and mitigate operational risks, streamline workflows, and ensure smooth, scalable production.
9. Lead process improvement initiatives, introducing lean manufacturing principles and digital transformation opportunities.
10. Maintain close coordination with R&D, engineering, quality assurance, and logistics to ensure seamless production cycles.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Agriculture, Chemical Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
2. Minimum 8 years of experience in factory operations or manufacturing, including 3+ years in a senior leadership role.
3. Proven expertise in the fertilizer, organic fertilizer, or waste-to-product conversion sector.
4. Strong technical understanding of production workflows, materials sourcing, and operational strategy.
5. Deep familiarity with EHS standards, permitting processes, and local manufacturing regulations.
6. Demonstrated success in leading factory teams, managing cross-functional stakeholders, and navigating early-stage setups.
7. Solid background in budgeting, cost control, and resource allocation.
8. Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
9. Strong capability in data-driven decision-making and implementing KPIs across manufacturing operations.
10. Willingness to travel and operate in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
