Qualifications

We’re hiring a Carpenter to Live. Work. Explore. at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon!

Job Summary:

Complete assigned work orders and projects relating to carpentry of company facilities.

The Details:

  • Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
  • Pay: $17.45 - $20.75 per hour, DOE

Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned work orders regarding carpentry, interior and exterior, in a timely, thorough, and cost-effective manner.
  • Maintain high levels of quality control throughout carpentry projects.
  • Order supplies for projects, ensuring that materials are matched and/or approved, especially regarding historic structures.
  • Maintain a clean work site and do cleanup to housekeeping standards.
  • Prioritize work orders for carpentry based on guestroom occupancy, weather, and National Park Service requirements.
  • Provide training and development to lower Carpenter grades.
  • Adhere to all safety, risk management, and environmental policies concerning tasks.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment in performance of tasks.
  • Be available for after-hours on-call duties as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Minimum three years experience as a commercial-grade carpenter.
  • Experience in:
    • Repair of wooden and metal windows and doors.
    • Install and repair drywall.
    • Install sheet metal such as stacks, ducts, flashings, gutters, and downspouts.
    • Lay out and construct all phases of rough carpentry.
    • Millwork installation including cabinets, countertops, shelving, windows, and doors.
    • Mix, pour, and finish concrete (footers, stem walls, slabs, sidewalks, steps).
    • Install and repair masonry structures, including mortar mixing and laying block and brick.
    • Install and repair tiles on walls, ceilings, and floors.
    • Install and repair roofing (shingles, shakes, composition, metal).
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and building plans.
  • Ability to estimate time and materials accurately for projects.
  • Working knowledge of safe operation of power tools/equipment.
  • Possess or obtain a valid Arizona Driver’s License within 90 days and comply with company vehicle policy.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks such as entering confined spaces, ascending/descending ladders, lifting, and climbing roofs.
