A leading company in the sustainable palm oil industry is seeking a Carbon Project Manager to drive feasibility studies and develop MRV systems for nature-based solutions. This role involves coordinating field teams, managing data for carbon credit certification, and working closely with external service providers to optimize project outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess a relevant degree and proven experience in carbon project management, with a strong commitment to environmental integrity.
Job Description Summary:
The comprehensive objective of this role is to drive establishment of feasibility study, selection of methodologies and build MRV systems, ensuring scientifically credible carbon credits that enable impactful nature-based solutions project implementation aligned with our environmental and social mission.
Job Description:
1. Rapid Pre-Feasibility Assessments
Conduct quick, thorough evaluations of carbon project potential across various locations to assess suitability and initial feasibility using VERRA VCS / Gold Standard / SRN methodology.
Identify high-priority project areas based on carbon stock, vegetation cover, and additional criteria.
2. Baseline Development & Monitoring
Build and manage comprehensive baselines for each project site, covering vegetation cover, carbon stock estimates, and historical changes in these metrics.
Aligning the aspects from project design into detailed parameter to be observed for monitoring implementation.
3. Deforestation Verification & Field Team Coordination
Coordinate the verification processes for deforestation and land-use changes by guiding field teams and ensuring consistency and accuracy in data collection.
Implement protocols and train field teams to ensure high-quality, verifiable data.
4. MRV System Design & Management
Establish and oversee robust MRV systems for NBS project sites to track, document, and report on carbon outcomes.
Collaborate with external service providers to develop efficient, standardized processes for monitoring carbon stocks and emissions reductions.
5. Data Management for Carbon Credit Certification
Manage comprehensive data sets required to support carbon credit claims, ensuring data integrity and alignment with certification standards.
Coordinate with certification bodies to facilitate accurate, timely, and compliant data submissions for credit issuance.
6. Support for Annual Field Planning
Work closely with field teams to plan annual work for ARR and REDD implementation, optimizing activities to enhance emission reduction, carbon sequestration and ecosystem restoration.
Provide technical guidance and resources to support efficient and impactful project execution.
Job Requirement :
Min S1 from relevant background (forestry, biology, environmental engineering)
Proven technical expertise in carbon projects, specifically in pre-feasibility analysis, MRV systems, and carbon credit certification processes using VERRA/Gold Standard
Proficiency in data management tools for tracking vegetation cover, carbon stocks, and deforestation.
Strong project management skills, with experience in coordinating field teams and guiding operational execution.
Mindset of“doing well by doing good,”with a commitment to environmental and social integrity
Willing to be located in Head Office Jakarta and frequently travel to site
