Job summary

National Oilwell Varco in Batam is seeking a CAD Drafter to prepare general arrangement drawings, weld maps, and fabrication drawings for production activities.

You will coordinate with engineering, QA/QC, and production teams, maintain revision control, and ensure drawings comply with AWS D1.1, ASME VIII, and client specs.

Candidates should have a Diploma or Bachelor's in mechanical engineering or drafting and at least 1 year of related experience.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's in mechanical drafting or related engineering field.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as CAD Drafter or Weld Map Drafter in fabrication/oil & gas.
• Proficient in AutoCAD; Navisworks knowledge preferred.
• Familiar with AWS D1.1 and ASME VIII Div.1 requirements.
• Knowledge of SolidWorks, Tekla, and nesting software is advantageous.
• Proficient in MS Office; strong detail, communication, and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare GA drawings, cutting layouts, weld maps, and fabrication drawings.
• Develop shop drawings and single-part drawings for fabrication activities.
• Prepare weld numbering, weld traceability documentation, and tracking systems.
• Coordinate with Engineering, QA/QC, and Production to ensure drawing accuracy.
• Review and update drawings based on revisions and project requirements.
• Ensure all drawings comply with standards, client specs, and codes.
• Maintain documentation and revision control throughout the project.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to drafting and fabrication.

Job description

• Prepare accurate engineering drawings and fabrication documentation to support production activities.
• Ensure weld mapping and fabrication drawings comply with project specifications, client requirements, and applicable standards.
• Support Engineering, QA/QC, and Production teams by delivering timely and accurate drafting documentation.
• Contribute to efficient fabrication planning through high-quality drawing preparation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare General Arrangement (GA) drawings, cutting layouts, weld maps, and fabrication drawings.
• Develop detailed shop drawings and single-part drawings for fabrication activities.
• Prepare weld numbering, weld traceability documentation, and weld tracking systems.
• Coordinate with Engineering, QA/QC, and Production teams to ensure drawing accuracy and completeness.
• Review and update drawings based on engineering revisions and project requirements.
• Ensure all drawings comply with company standards, client specifications, and applicable codes.
• Maintain proper documentation and revision control throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to drafting and fabrication processes.

Qualifications

• Diploma (D3) or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or a related Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a CAD Drafter or Weld Map Drafter in the fabrication, manufacturing, EPC, or Oil & Gas industry.
• Proficient in AutoCAD; experience with Navisworks is an advantage.
• Familiar with AWS D1.1 and ASME Section VIII Div.1 requirements.
• Knowledge of SolidWorks, Tekla, and nesting software such as Autonest or Pronest will be an advantage.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and coordination skills.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively in a project environment.
