This includes overseeing the entire project lifecycle—from pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies and planning to execution and monitoring—across various locations. The role involves ensuring that projects meet international and/or national standards for carbon certification, as well as achieving social and environmental co-benefits. The Blue Carbon Project Manager will work with internal teams, external stakeholders, and local communities to deliver impactful and high-quality carbon projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the development of blue carbon projects, from Pre-Feasibility assessment (Pre-FS), feasibility assessment (FS) and project description or design (PD) or DRAM to on-the-ground implementation across multiple sites in line with international and/or national carbon standards (e.g., Verra, Gold Standard, SRN).
  2. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project development, execution and delivery of blue carbon projects from Pre-FS, FS, PD/DRAM to implementation.
  3. Oversee carbon credit development processes, ensuring alignment with global and/or national standards (e.g., Verra, Gold Standard, SRN) and successful certification of projects.
  4. Supervise and coordinate activities across multiple blue carbon project sites, ensuring consistent and effective management practices.
  5. Engage with local communities, governments, and partners to promote sustainable practices and ensure projects deliver social and environmental co-benefits.
  6. Monitor and evaluate project performance in terms of emissions reductions, ecological impact, and financial sustainability across all sites.
  7. Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations related to blue carbon project development and environmental sustainability.
  8. Coordinate Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) processes to track and certify blue carbon emission reductions.
  9. Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, certification bodies, regulatory authorities, and project partners.
  10. Stay updated on market trends and regulatory changes to maximize the financial and environmental benefits of the project.
  11. Identify and mitigate potential risks to project success, including environmental, social, financial, and regulatory risks.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in forestry, marine, environmental science, sustainability, natural resource management, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  2. 5+ years of experience in carbon project development or environmental sustainability, with a focus on managing multiple sites.
  3. Proven experience in the end-to-end development of carbon projects, from planning and site management to certification.
  4. Strong understanding of carbon standards, methodologies, and certification processes (e.g., Verra, Gold Standard, SRN).
  5. Project management skills, with experience in managing budgets, timelines, and remote or multi-site teams.
  6. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and communities.
  7. Experience with GIS, MRV systems, and data management is a must.
