Background
Banyuwangi Hijau, an initiative of Banyuwangi Government to realized clean city through comprehensive waste management system. Banyuwangi Hijau is coordinated by the Environmental Office (DLH) of Banyuwangi Government, with support from program working group, consists of cross sectors officials. The program is implementing four component intervention: governance, waste system, behaviour change & communication (BCC) and innovative financing.
The BCC component mandate is to create sustainable community demand for waste services, which will be set up with support from BWH. This will be achieved through implementation of integrated behaviour change campaign, which will employ communications approaches not limited to advocacy, community mobilization, public campaign, and interpersonal communication. All approaches will be realized in different type of activities, ranging from studies, training, media campaign, community-based activities, workshops, seminars, and many others. All those activities delivery will be delivered with high involvement of local government officials, program stakeholders, consultants, event organizers, and other as deemed necessary. BCC also has close link with other BWH components: waste operation and governance, as they are enabler for change at household and community level can take place through establishment of facility/services/regulation.
