Job summary

Garena is seeking a Backend Engineer to collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and QA to build and optimize core services including payment and account systems. You will develop, maintain, and enhance backend APIs with a strong focus on stability, performance, and reliability.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in CS/IS or related field and at least 2 years of backend experience in large-scale systems, with proficiency in Go, Python and SQL and exposure to Docker/Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
• 2+ years of backend engineering experience in large-scale or internet-based systems.
• Proficient in Go, Python and SQL; knowledge of Docker and/or Kubernetes preferred.
• Deep understanding of computer architectures, data structures and algorithms.
• Hands-on experience using AI tools to enhance engineering productivity; AI integrations a plus.
• Strong problem solving skills and logical thinking.
• Open-minded, agile and proactive with a willingness to learn.
• Good team communication and collaboration skills.
• Deliver quality work on time with accountability.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with software engineers, product managers and QA to build and improve backend services and APIs.
• Develop, maintain and optimize backend services with focus on stability and performance.
• Contribute to system design and architecture improvements for stability and reliability.
• Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.
• Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve system quality and efficiency.
