Job summary

Traveloka is seeking a Backend Engineer to design, enhance, and maintain scalable backend systems and data APIs. You will engage in code reviews, unit and integration testing, and contribute to architectural discussions.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and Traveloka stakeholders to drive technology decisions and ensure reliable deployments globally. The role requires strong Java proficiency, cloud experience (AWS), and exposure to databases like PostgreSQL/MySQL and MongoDB.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of backend engineering experience building scalable web apps.
• Proven experience with Java and cloud-based architectures.
• Experience with multi-database systems (PostgreSQL/MySQL, MongoDB).

Job description

• Take on the responsibility of designing, enhancing, and maintaining our backend applications, third-party data integration, data APIs, backend systems, and engagement with monitoring tools and infrastructure.
• Engage actively in engineering practices such as code review, unit testing, and integration testing to uphold high standards of quality.
• Participate actively in solution and architectural design reviews, contributing valuable insights to the development process.
• Contribute to be on-call engineer, ensuring the reliability and functionality of our systems.
• Engage in innovative thinking and actively contribute to creative problem-solving initiatives.
• Establish working relationships with key business partners and stakeholders across Traveloka group. Be a trusted advisor for business partners and other stakeholders, driving strategic discussions and influencing decisions on technology selection, design, and use.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and deliverables; manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Manage a growing engineering team to optimise the quality and velocity of both development and operations, including priorities, milestones, and deliverables to meet and exceed service level agreements with customer deployments around the globe
• Ensure adherence to continuous improvement practices as required to meet quality/time to market imperatives, ensuring multi-tenancy and high availability of infrastructure.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent from a reputable university.
• Minimum of 5 years of solid experience in Backend Engineering skills, including building scalable web applications involving extensive design and coding.
• Proven experience in creating a robust and highly scalable system.
• Proficiency in Java and experience in building technical solutions in AWS is a must.
• Excellent in problem-solving, analytical, and possessing the ability to move up and down from solution to implementation.
• Excellent in verbal and written communication, presentation, and mentorship skills, with a demonstrated ability to show personal maturity.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Experience in RDBMS like PostgreSQL/MySQL and NoSQL databases like MongoDB is a plus.
• Experience in AWS/GCP/Azure and other technologies like Ansible, Containers, Kubernetes etc is a plus.
