About the role
We are seeking an AVP/VP Lawyer to support our legal functions in Southeast Asia (primarily Indonesia, Philippines, and Vietnam), at HQ in Singapore as well as globally. This hybrid role will be responsible for contract drafting and reviews, negotiations, ensuring regulatory and internal compliance, and providing strategic legal support across IIX’s growing impact investment initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in legal drafting, contract management, and credit documentation, along with excellent research and communication skills. Exposure to litigation would be a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Legal Documentation & Drafting:
Draft, review, and manage a variety of legal documents, including employment contracts, commercial agreements, NDAs, partnership agreements, and internal policy documents. - Compliance Documentation & Drafting:
Draft, review, and manage external policies and monitor compliance by third parties. - Strategic Legal Support:
Provide legal input on strategic matters and liaise with internal and external counsel as needed. - Legal Research & Analysis:
Conduct legal research across jurisdictions, contribute to legal risk assessments, compliance reviews, and regulatory tracking. - Legal Tech & Case Management:
Utilize legal software tools and document management systems to manage records and improve workflow. - Team Collaboration & Communication:
Work cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Credit, and Operations teams, offering legal insights and demonstrating collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Law degree, legal diploma, or equivalent with 10+ years relevant experience.
- Experience in legal drafting and negotiation, especially employment law and commercial contracts.
- Familiarity with legal compliance in multiple jurisdictions, including Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, and emerging markets.
- Experience managing legal cases or supporting legal transitions like startup relocation or international expansion.
- Proficiency with legal research and document management tools; familiarity with e-discovery platforms is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, able to translate legal language for non-legal stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills, integrity, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
