Job description

Doku is launching an exciting new cross-border payments business. We're seeking a dynamic commercial leader to spearhead this strategic initiative, focusing on both inbound remittances and outbound merchant payments (merchants purchasing supplies from overseas).

As our first hire for this new business line, you'll have the unique opportunity to build something from the ground up while leveraging Doku's established fintech infrastructure and market presence.

What you'll do:
Inbound Payments (Remittances)
  • Develop and execute B2B sales strategies targeting key remittance corridors into Indonesia
  • Build strategic partnerships with money transfer operators, banks, and fintech companies in Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai, and other priority markets
  • Negotiate commercial agreements and establish distribution channels for inbound payment flows
  • Create go-to-market strategies for overseas worker remittance products
Outbound Payments (Merchant Services)
  • Identify and onboard Indonesian SME traders and merchants requiring cross-border payment solutions
  • Develop merchant acquisition strategies, particularly targeting Singapore, Malaysia, China, and USA trade corridors
  • Build relationships with trade associations, chambers of commerce, and industry bodies
  • Design merchant onboarding processes and commercial frameworks
Business Development
  • Conduct market analysis and competitive intelligence for cross-border payment opportunities
  • Develop FX pricing strategies and commercial models for both inbound and outbound
  • Collaborate with product and technology teams to define feature requirements
  • Build financial projections and business cases for expansion opportunities while managing the P&L of the business
What we're looking for:
  • 8+ years of experience in commercial, business development, or partnerships within financial services, fintech, or payments
  • Strong understanding of FX fees for cross-border transactions and optimization strategies
  • Proven track record in B2B sales/partnerships, especially in cross-border payments, remittances, or trade finance
  • Experience building partnerships across Southeast Asia, Middle East, or Greater China
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with C-level executives and senior stakeholders
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia; Mandarin is a plus
  • Existing network of contacts in target markets (Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai)
  • Experience in payments, merchant acquiring, or fintech
  • Track record of building new business lines
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop business cases and financial models
