A leading Indonesian law firm with a strong track record in cross-border transactions is looking for a high-caliber Associate - Project Financing to join its growing team.
Job Description
Provide End-to-End Legal Support on Project Lifecycle: Advise clients on legal and regulatory aspects from project inception, structuring, procurement, construction, to financing and operation stages.
Draft and Negotiate Project Contracts: Prepare, review, and negotiate a broad range of project documents including but not limited to:
Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contracts
Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs)
Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Agreements
FIDIC-based contracts
Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and concession agreements
Lead Legal Due Diligence and Risk Assessments: Conduct and supervise comprehensive legal due diligence on infrastructure assets and project companies. Identify and mitigate legal risks for lenders, developers, and sponsors.
Advise on Project Financing Structures: Support structuring of non-recourse and limited recourse financing, liaising with commercial banks, multilateral financial institutions, and export credit agencies.
Coordinate with Key Stakeholders: Engage and negotiate with project sponsors, contractors, government authorities, and financial institutions to ensure smooth execution of project documentation.
Regulatory and Compliance Advisory: Provide advice on regulatory frameworks including environmental law, land acquisition, energy law, and sector-specific licenses and permits.
Manage Cross-Border and Domestic Transactions: Work on transactions involving both local and international counterparties, ensuring compliance with Indonesian law while aligning with global best practices.
Mentor Junior Lawyers: Provide guidance, supervision, and on-the-job training for junior associates and trainees within the team.
Client Engagement and Business Development: Maintain client relationships through regular engagement, providing commercially minded solutions, and supporting the firm's business development initiatives.
The Successful Applicant
Key Requirements:
7-12 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in projects and infrastructure law, particularly in project development and financing.
Licensed Advocate (PERADI).
Graduate from a reputable local or international university.
Solid experience working on infrastructure, energy, or utilities-related projects with exposure to international standards (FIDIC, PPA, etc.).
Strong commercial awareness and ability to interface with senior stakeholders and multinational clients.
Excellent legal drafting and communication skills in English.
Confident, independent, and highly driven with proven ability to manage complex transactions.
Additional certifications related to project finance or energy law are a strong advantage.
