Job Description:
- Learn and use appropriate food and wine terminology and pronunciation to enhance the Guest's dining experience. Become familiar with menu descriptions and wine lists to discuss items appropriately with guests.
- Have full knowledge of Viking's F&B options and ship activities; present F&B menus to guests, suggest dinner courses and wines, and answer questions regarding menu and wine selections.
- Relay orders to the Galley using MXP Ordering Software; serve courses from the Galley and beverages from various locations, following safe Company Alcohol Serving Policies.
- Serve food and beverages efficiently and courteously, according to company standards and procedures.
- Prepare and perform F&B activities (e.g., cocktail parties, Tea Time) and special events as assigned.
- Keep and store any assigned inventory stock in accordance with set par-levels, following safety and sanitation rules and regulations.
- Establish effective employee relations and maintain professionalism, ethics, and a positive attitude towards all guests and employees.
- Ensure assigned areas are set up according to supervisor instructions, Viking’s Operations Manuals, and SOPs.
- Minimize equipment loss/damage and maintain cleanliness standards by applying safe working policies, ensuring equipment is sanitized and returned after use.
- Prepare mise-en-place for all areas of responsibility 15 minutes prior to service.
- Participate in embarkation duties, including luggage assistance, guest escorting, and related tasks; assist in storing as directed.
- Participate daily in “The Daily Reunion” to understand operational needs and ensure adherence to Viking’s STAR Service Standards.
- Provide high-level, sales-oriented service to guests, maintaining impeccable cleanliness and hygiene standards, and proactively preparing for guest flow and activities.
- Wear appropriate PPE as required; use correct lifting techniques to prevent injuries.
- Uphold grooming standards per Viking’s Image and Uniform Standards.
- Secure company property during rough weather to prevent loss or damage.
- Demonstrate flexibility by working different shifts, under pressure, with a positive attitude, representing Viking well.
- Gain knowledge about ports of call, shore excursions, and shipboard activities.
- Motivated to achieve company goals for quality and financial performance.
- Understand safety and security procedures, participate in related training, and operate in accordance with policies.
- Assist other departments and perform additional duties as instructed by supervisors.
