Job Title: Wastewater Treatment Assistant Plant Manager
Location: Boise Idaho
Wage: $80k to $90k (DOE)
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Assistant Plant Manager to support daily operations at our Wastewater Treatment Facility. This position plays a critical role in ensuring treated water meets all environmental and regulatory standards, in accordance with NPDES and land application permits. The Assistant Plant Manager oversees plant performance, supports team development, and coordinates maintenance, lab testing, and compliance procedures. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on regulatory excellence, staff training, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and ensure proper operation of the wastewater treatment plant, in compliance with EPA, Idaho DEQ, and permit requirements.
- Conduct regular verification of Wastewater Control Sheet Reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Train, mentor, and support employees on the latest wastewater treatment technologies and best practices.
- Execute lab analysis procedures in accordance with Standard Methods Lab Manuals.
- Manage staffing plans, scheduling, and labor needs to align with production and compliance demands.
- Ensure all monthly maintenance tasks are completed and properly documented.
- Present wastewater system performance updates to the Safety & Environment Manager.
- Perform administrative and managerial duties, including scheduling, documentation, meetings, and employee supervision.
- Promote open communication and a positive work environment; address employee concerns and support retention efforts.
- Coordinate and oversee necessary repairs with maintenance staff, including issuing work orders for pump failures and related equipment.
- Organize team output, analyze efficiencies, and propose improvements in workflows or equipment.
- Participate in equipment and process trials to support innovation and continuous improvement.
Additional Responsibilities
- Work closely with farmers and manage the MMID contract for farm water operations (October 31 – March 1).
- Collect samples and monitor land application activities during the growing season.
- Learn and maintain compliance with the land application permit.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of experience in wastewater treatment operations, preferably in an industrial dairy or similar facility.
- Strong understanding of NPDES permitting, EPA standards, and Idaho DEQ regulations.
- Experience in team supervision, scheduling, and process improvement initiatives.
