Australian Independent School Indonesia (AIS) in Jakarta seeks a dedicated counsellor to support students across campuses in Jakarta and Bali. You will provide individual and group counselling, listen to student concerns, and work with wellbeing and learning support teams to enhance student social and emotional development.
The role requires a bachelor or master degree in a related field, excellent English communication, and at least 3 years of experience with children, ideally in an
Cooperates and works closely with the Wellbeing Co-ordinator and the Learning Support Co-ordinator/ Director. Counsellors will get students' referral to provide further support and assistance for the students in need.
Listening to students’ concerns regarding social, academic or personal circumstances
Providing students with support and guidance on how to deal with problems
Mediating and improving relationships between students, parents and teachers
Conducting individual and group counselling as required
Working with students to develop and improve their skill set
Works closely with the schools Child Protection and Well Being support teams
Conducting or assisting restorative meetings with students and or teachers as needed
Assisting students in the development of career goals
Referring students to other support services and mental health professionals as needed
Provide advice on appropriate referral options for students identified as needing additional testing
Assist teaching staff to meet the social and emotional needs of students by providing advice for individual learning plans/ approaches
Maintain appropriate records of students’ cases and access the Contact Sheets kept by the Wellbeing Co-ordinator regularly and where necessary
Use professional judgement in relation to confidentiality in communicating relevant information and issues to the Campus Principal, and/or teaching staff
Provide counselling and support to staff as the need arises. Communication with the Principal is also necessary for this matter.
Works across both AIS campuses ie primary and secondary in Bali and Jakarta
Minimum of bachelor degree or master degree majoring in related field from reputable university
Communicative and proactive
Excellent English communications skills (written & verbal)
A good team member and with high-level interpersonal skills
A sensitivity and empathy towards the expectations and understandings of people from diverse cultural, religious and language backgrounds
A warm and friendly personality
Prior experience working in a related field or in an International School would be an advantage
A minimum of 3 years of experience working with children is required
