Job summary

WeLab is seeking a senior data analytics professional in Hong Kong to partner with cross-functional teams and drive data-driven decision-making across customer analytics, segmentation, and portfolio analytics. You will translate complex data into actionable insights and embed analytics into customer journeys.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in data analytics within banking/fintech, strong storytelling skills, and hands-on experience with SQL and BI tools (Qlik/Tableau/Power BI).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Data Analytics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Computer Science or related discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in data analytics, BI, or related role, preferably in banking/fintech.
• Strong business acumen and understanding of banking products and digital financial services.
• Proven ability to translate data into commercially actionable insights.
• Strong communication and data storytelling skills for stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product, Risk, Marketing and other teams to understand customer needs and growth opportunities.
• Identify high-impact, data-driven use cases across acquisition, conversion, adoption, engagement, cross-selling and retention.
• Analyze customer behaviour, portfolio performance and customer value to uncover opportunities.
• Develop customer segmentation and insights for more relevant propositions and journeys.
• Translate analytics into actionable insights for business stakeholders.
• Embed analytics into customer journeys and decision-making.
• Design measurement frameworks and KPIs to track performance.
• Support experimentation and performance optimization and adoption of AI/Data-driven mindset.

What you’ll do and what success looks like in this role

• Partner with Product, Risk, Marketing and other business teams to understand customer needs, business challenges and growth opportunities.
• Identify and prioritize high-impact, data-driven use cases across customer acquisition, conversion, product adoption, engagement, cross-selling and retention.
• Analyze customer behaviour, product holdings, portfolio performance and customer value to uncover actionable business opportunities.
• Develop customer segmentation and insights to support more relevant customer propositions, journeys and cross-product engagement.
• Translate complex data and analytical findings into clear insights, recommendations and actions for business stakeholders.
• Work closely with business and technology teams to embed analytics into customer journeys and day-to-day decision-making.
• Design measurement frameworks and KPIs to track business performance and evaluate the impact of initiatives.
• Support experimentation and performance optimization, including identifying opportunities, measuring results and recommending next actions.
• Drive the adoption of advanced analytics, AI and a data-driven mindset across the business.

What Is Required And What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Data Analytics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in data analytics, business intelligence, customer analytics or a related role, preferably within banking, fintech or financial services.
• Strong business acumen and understanding of banking products, customer journeys and digital financial services.
• Proven ability to turn data into commercially actionable insights and recommendations, rather than simply producing reports.
• Strong communication and data storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex analyses and influence business stakeholders.
• Hands‑on experience with SQL and data visualization / BI tools such as Qlik, Tableau or Power BI.
• Experience with Python or R for data analysis would be an advantage.
• Experience in customer analytics, segmentation, campaign analytics, experimentation or portfolio analytics would be highly valued.
• Curious, collaborative and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment where you can take ownership and turn ideas into action.
• Candidates with less experience may be considered for Assistant Manager, Data & Analytics.
