Job summary

Societe Generale in Hong Kong is seeking a Release Manager to govern end-to-end release management for software applications supporting external market connectivity and internal initiatives.

You will collaborate with Development, Operations, and Business teams to drive timely, high-quality releases aligned with regulatory and risk requirements, while exploring AI-driven delivery improvements and modern software practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or related discipline.
• Familiarity with Agile delivery frameworks, Python scripting, and Unix/Linux environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain a high level of ownership and accountability.
• Knowledge of software development, automation frameworks, DevOps practices, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and emerging technologies would be considered a strong asset.
• Prior experience supporting electronic trading platforms, exchange connectivity, market access systems, or mission-critical financial applications is highly desirable.
• A proactive mindset, curiosity for innovation, and a continuous improvement orientation, with a willingness to explore and adopt new technologies that enhance operational efficiency and business value.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee the release roadmap and schedules aligned with business priorities.
• Coordinate across BA, Development, Operations, and Infrastructure for releases.
• Produce release documentation, plans, deployment notes, and post-implementation reviews.
• Identify risks, define mitigations, and manage release issues.
• Ensure releases meet quality, testing, and regulatory requirements.
• Improve and automate release processes and tooling.
• Act as primary point of contact for release status with stakeholders.
• Gatekeeper for production releases and change management.
• Coordinate market communications and distribute market notifications.
• Work with Infrastructure to understand data center, networking, servers.
• Lead with autonomy and drive initiatives.
• Explore AI and modern delivery practices to drive innovation.

Responsibilities

• Release Planning & Governance: Develop, maintain, and oversee the release roadmap and schedule, ensuring alignment with internal and external project timelines, business priorities, and delivery commitments.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Facilitate effective collaboration and communication across Business Analysis, Development, Operations, and Infrastructure teams (including Network and Server Engineering) to ensure seamless execution of release activities.
• Documentation & Reporting: Produce and maintain comprehensive release-related documentation, including functional specifications, solution and architecture diagrams, deployment plans, release notes, and post-implementation reviews.
• Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify, assess, and manage risks and issues associated with software releases, while defining and driving appropriate mitigation and contingency plans.
• Quality & Compliance Assurance: Ensure all releases meet established quality standards, testing requirements, operational readiness criteria, and applicable regulatory or compliance obligations prior to deployment.
• Process Improvement & Automation: Continuously review, optimize, and automate release management processes, controls, and tooling to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability of software delivery.
• Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for release-related communications, providing clear and timely updates to business and technology stakeholders on release status, risks, and milestones.
• Change & Release Management: Act as the gatekeeper for all production releases, ensuring that change management processes are adhered to and that deployments are executed in a controlled and transparent manner.
• Market Communications Management: Act as the central point of coordination for exchange and market communications. Ensure market notifications are received, tracked, and distributed through a centralized process, maintain and harmonize exchange contact lists, assign follow-up actions to relevant team members, and promote transparency regarding market changes and initiatives across stakeholders.
• Infrastructure Partnership & Technical Oversight: Collaborate closely with Infrastructure teams to gain market-related technical intelligence and develop a strong understanding of data center architecture, networking, and server platforms supporting market connectivity solutions.
• Leadership & Autonomy: Operate with a high degree of autonomy, taking ownership of initiatives and driving outcomes independently. Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
• Innovation & Technology Research: Actively explore emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence and modern software delivery practices, assess their potential business value, and promote the adoption of innovative solutions across the organization.
